Interesting how life's detours take us to places we do not always plan for reasons that are written in the stars, which we have no control. I heard it once said that people who think they are in control of their lives are the crazy ones--delusional.

I spent 2 years studying the Russian language--I now understand better than speak. I had planned on getting a job working that area, and marrying someone from Ukraine/Georgia/Russia. Really super accent, along with all the other wonderful attributes. Lucky for me I didn't get the job, but got diverted to Africa, and found the one.

I started calling the NVC last monday. I will call everyday now, and perhaps up it to morning and evening.

Okay--I'm being watched :clock:

I see everyone Is slowly making it to the finish line

:rofl::rofl::rofl: Nice jab......

Thanks JAIME!!! I mean спасибо :joy: I like both languages but Russian i LOVE! Actually people in Ukraine speak 60 % Russian and 40 % Ukrainian and these languages are different. Oftentimes Russian people do not understand Ukrainian. I was born and had been living for more than 10 years in Russia, so I count my Motherland is Russia and I love Russian (L)

I am glad you didn't get a job in these countries , so you met your love in Africa.

Я изучал русский язык в Сан-Антонио, когда я служил в военно-воздушных сил.

Hello Kay & Tony

NVC received our case this past Friday Jan 8. So it is still showing at NVC.

They should be releasing the February dates in another week or two... or as imekai said, when the January slots fill up a little more.

Thanks for getting back with me on this, much appreciated :)

We got the case no. from NVC the next day after the confirmed that they received our case,, so try calling Monday to see if you've already been assigned to one ^_^

Hope to see the Feb. dates open in a week or so then :luv:

Please can someone help what is Packet 3 all about?

Thanks

Packet 3 are the papers you send to the embassy once your petition is being processed at the embassy. Procedures vary from embassy to embassy, so you should check their website.

For you, as you listed Nigeria:

http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html

Fiance/Fiancee visas (K1s, K3s)

If your K1 or K3 petition has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security and you have received notification from the National Visa Center that your petition is on its way to post, you should download and complete the following application. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will contact you when your petition has arrived at post so that you may schedule your appointment. If you have questions, you may e-mailLagosIV@state.gov. [Click to open "Interview Preparatory Packet (K1, K3)"PDF 539KB] Also, please review the pamphlet “Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa.” (PDF 53KB)

Cool!

Heard that the letter from NVC takes long to arrive in the mail and that the screenshot @ Ready is okay to be able to do the medical, but my fiance prefers that I have the confirmation for the interview appointment because he does not want to take the risk of me being turned away... I tried to assure him the screenshot is okay based on those that have done the same but he insist that I have what exactly is required <_<That's why I'm eager for the Feb calendar to open, but as you guys said, it won't be in a week or so :D

The calendars for USEM will only open up when the current month your in is almost fully booked. So as of now, Feb and March are hidden. I think it's safe to say that in the 3rd week of the month you can usually see it change. Keep looking is my best recommendation.

Thank you for the endorsement and kind words. They are truly appreciated. I don't know everything and not as much as Hank on some of the obscure visa questions but I am learning. Hank has been my mentor and we have a great relationship. The best teacher is you the ones who are going through the process. When you report back about your experiences, we learn from them. Thanks for sharing your journey.

And good luck and God's speed.

Thank you! It's great to be part of a group like this. Great advice & support system :star::star::star:

I had two instructors. One located in Ukraine, and one in California (Russian). So I learned about the differences.

My fascination with Russia was sparked when I was very young. First movie I remember seeing-- I was very young. Dr. Zhivago. Julie Christie was my first love.
