can i defer my trip to the US for 4 or 5months?

Hi everyone, I'm going to schedule my interview today.

My fiance and I have decided that I will be going to meet to meet her in the US after our visa is approved by God's Grace. I plan to travel to the US in April/May 2016 because of our studies. Pls I want to ask if this won't be a problem when I eventually want to travel that I have not travelled immediately the visa is issued. Tho my passport is still valid till 2019. Thanks for anticipatory quick response.

You have six months from the date of your medical to enter the US. May is more than six months away, if you have already had your exam, it will expire prior to your planned entry. Maybe schedule your interview for December, and get a medical just prior to the interview.

Thank you so much... I am grateful! and I understand it now.

Also I ve a problem with a section in filling my ds160 form; The family information in which I filled my fiance's name and address but it is not accepting her zip code and state. I want to submit it now but I can't because of this issue. I don't know if anyone here has faced such before. Thanks!

No, not always, the expiration date is tied in with the date of the medical, never assume you have 6 months left and check the expiration date.

Some people only have a months or two.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

AOS send : May 12, 2015, received May 14, 2015 USPS priority

Biometrics : June 1, 2015 letter received for appointment June 8, 2015, successful walk-in June 1, 2015

RFE : June 12, 2015 for income not meeting guideline. Income does ( ! ) exceed guideline.

RFE response : June 26, 2015 returned with a boat load full of financial evidence.

UPDATE: July 5, 2015 updated on all 3 cases, RFE received June 30, 2015.

Service request : Aug 12, 2015, letter received that it will be processed within 90 days from receipt of RFE.

UPDATE: Aug 24, 2015, EAD card being produced/ordered. ( 102 days from AOS receipt day and 55 days from RFE response received.) Thank you Jesus !

Renewal EAD in production notification text and online, expedite successful 4 days after RFE request response was faxed, Aug25mailed,Aug29received.

Sept. 21 Interview, 2 hour interview, we were separated and asked about 50 questions each for an hour each. IO was firm but professional, some smiles.
Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

Hi, I suggest you have the medical and embassy interview in March next year.

You can call or email the local embassy to ask extension of your validity of NOA2.

Pardon I don't know about the specifics of your country but embassy usually extends NOA2 almost immediately.

It will be extended for 4 month counting from the day you ask. Some people extends NOA2 multiple times with no problem.

I've don it too. Embassy is very responsive.

That way your medical will be fresh so that you might be able to avoid paying for it again for AOS.

Just make sure you maintain good communication and don't fight your fiance/fiancee :star:
