Good Sunday Afternoon Fellow VJers!

I could use some advice. Long story short, my fiancé and I have been gathering documents for the interview as soon as we received our NOA2. I have everything on my end and he has applied for everything on his. The non impediment to marriage document is ready to be picked up but my fiancé was told the police history would be ready for pick up oct. 9th. I've scheduled a weeks visit on the 6th of this month. It just so happens I see there is an opening for an interview during the time of my visit on the 9th. We didn't imagine this scenario at all. He won't have his police history nor would he be able to get his medical on time. Should we save several hundreds of dollars and take the appointment while in town or would it be more prudent to stick to plan and schedule an appointment next month? I've read some stories where handing in documents piecemeal after the interview caused greater delays, confusion and mishaps. What are your thoughts?

I'd say book an interview when you have everything ready.

You say you would save hundreds of dollars by taking this date, why would a later date cost money?

I'd rather be prepared with all the documents. You ABSOLUTELY will need the medical at least. Being so unprepared in terms of not having the required documents might just turn you CO off....be careful. If you have to absolutely save money you dont have to attend the interview with your fiance, a lot of people go alone with no issues.

Good luck!

I would wait until you have everything. We had all documents ready, scheduled the interview but was unable to schedule the medical until AFTER the interview because that was the only available date. Now we have everything completed but we are sitting in the unknown black hole :( we don't know if we are approved or not even though the interview went well. Our ceac status hasn't been updated since we turned in the completed medical 2 weeks ago. We sit at "ready".

I'm just letting you know our scenario. Every embassy is different

Good luck on your journey

Be prepared with everything.. Better to be safe than sorry... I know you would like to be there for the interview but it's not recommend. It's best for the CO to ask for ur presence at a second interview rather than to be denied because you didn't have ur medical or police record.. Medical is a must for the interview day and if something is wrong, they either will deny or ask us to retake the medical and put the case into AP

not meaning to be brash, and I do understand the desire to finish this process expediently and on budget, But... how can someone even think to take a potential appointment slot from another prepared couple, just to take a half step ahead?? sorry, but it makes no sense to me, and if everyone did that we'd never get anywhere.. this whole site is about streamlining our preparedness (preparedness is the pivotal word there)

fingerz crost for your success once ready

I don't always get my posts deleted on V.J., but when I do it's a good indication I was right and they couldn't handle it !!!

A part of being prepared is making room for discourse, covering a variety of angles and being unafraid to ask questions. This forum has been that for me; a soundboard. I'm in queue too like everyone else (except for those folks who say they have an epiphany on a b visa and decide to get married in the states...just kidding...please don't text me about that :-)) and as I stated earlier we have firmly decided to be prudent and schedule a later interview appointment. Thank you all for your sound advice. The decision is made and I will have a relaxing, wine sipping, sun dipping , vacay instead of a stressed manic filled one. God bless VJ!
