Hello,we just got our NOA2 finally. What is next? I know that USCIS send documents to NVC .Do they (NVC) send any package to me or they forward documents to US Embasy.Do I have to get any number or pay any fee ?

Hi there :)

Our petition just got approved as well! And to the best of my knowledge, I know that USCIS now will send the petition to NVC, the time they will get it and they will entry it in their system, it should take about 2-4 weeks.

So in about that time you should start call the NVC:

1) Be sure they received your petition

2) Be sure they assigned a number to your case, and you'll need to write it down because it will be necessary to get the appointment for the interview at the Embassy

Once you will do 1 and 2 point, you will contact the Embassy to be sure they received your case.

I am pretty sure, though, that in based of your country there are different documents to gather for your interview, and different procedures to follow.

So, besides of NVC "period" I will leave the word to somebody who is of your own country because I don't want to give you wrong information.

I will also suggest you to give a look to this: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Hope I clarified few things for you!

Good luck!

You did not specify if this is a K1 visa or marriage based so its a bit hard but i am gonna assume its K1.

For K1 they do not send you anything they send it right to the embassy. After a couple or so weeks from now you have to call NVC and get your case number from them. When you get that you can track your paperwork online. Calling NVC is very difficult, you might have to redial 20-30 times and when someone answers you have to be on hold sometimes for 30 minutes or more just FYI. This is no reason not to call just letting you know what to expect.

Hope this helps.

I don't know about the process for K-1, since I am doing it for IR5, but as far as calling NVC here are a couple of tips:

I got the NOA2 by mail on September 14th, I got the actual text, email and change of status online on the 17th, saying they had send everything to NVC on the 17th... NVC received it on the 22nd. (Just a little timeframe for you).

The number to call (from within the US) to check on your case is 603.334.0700. Their website states that they are open from 7am - 12am EST (not sure if this means noon or midnight :/ I should've asked). When you call most likely you will immediately get an recorded message that states something like we are currently busy with the overwhelming amount of calls we are receiving, call back later... and then the call hangs up.
As soon as you hear that message, hang up and try again. I called Wednesday September 23rd in the morning at 7:51 AM EST and I got the message 10 times in a row. On the 10th time at 7:52 AM I finally got through the main menu. I was on hold for a good 10 minutes until someone finally came on the line and answered my questions. She was nice and helpful.
A week later, on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 I called again... I tried the call 6 times before I was able to get through, then I pressed 1 for english and 7 for other questions and was on hold for about 20 minutes. I finally got on the line with Daisy and she was nice. My case was received (as someone else told me before) on the 22nd, and Daisy said to give them at least 42 days before they can give me the case # and invoice #... which is 12 more days than they said before. She reiterated that whenever I get a number assigned I will receive the information by mail or email (whatever they have on file).

I just want to clarify which is the correct number to call. Is it 603 334 0700 or 603 334 0888. I tried both and got through on the second number. It says that the second number is for non-immigrant visas. Various places say that the K1 is a non-immigrant visa, is this true. Long story short, which number are we supposed to be calling?

Hello,we just got our NOA2 finally. What is next? I know that USCIS send documents to NVC .Do they (NVC) send any package to me or they forward documents to US Embasy.Do I have to get any number or pay any fee ?

NVC sends to embassy or consulate.

Try and keep in contact with NVC they will tell you when the package was sent to the embassy. In our case, the package was missing for 10 weeks, very very bad way to do business. The documents got sent but embassy kept saying they did not have anything. The NVC put a trace on the package and immediately the embassy said that had the documents.

In our case the visa is paid at the embassy during the interview. The embassy will give you instructions on how to proceed and what to take to the interview.

Yes you will have a number assigned to you. I believe, normally the number begins with 3 letters- embassy letters and followed by 2015 and then about 6 more numbers.
