Just checking in on everyone. I thought I would post some of our experiences in case it helps anyone. My fiance is here with me and has been here for one month. His interview went well back in February and we recieved the visa quickly via dhl. We did run into a dilema because he had accidently opened the sealed envelope that he was not supposed to. This was remedied by sending everything back to the consulate via DHL and waiting for them to return them to him via DHL. It didn't take very long, and it didn't cost a thing. This was a huge relief. He arrive here on May first and he made it through Houston POE without any issues. Two weeks after arrival we applied for a SSN without any issues! We recieved that within a week and then moved on to trying to get a drivers permit. Luckily, due to a cancilation we were able to get him his CT drivers permit yesterday. This did involve overnighting him a piece of mail so that he would have a second proof of address in time, but glad to have it! First available appointment for the license isn't till September, but the DMV told me to check back for cancelations so we will see how that goes. We will be getting married on July 23rd and although its frustrating that he can't work or go anywhere on his own yet we are making progress and are very happy to be together. I'm beginning to look up how to go through the change of status, and I'm a little worried about our timeline. His i-94 expires on July 29th and I'm slightly concerned that we are cutting things to closely. I didn't realize that reciving our marriage certificate might not be an immediate thing. Well, its a never ending process! Good luck to all!

Hi,

I'm so glad to hear everything is going good for you guys.

I arrived in Tampa on March 8 and got married on April 1st. We did get married at City Hall so we were able to get our Marriage certificate right away as well as some certified copies, how ever the guy that married us made a mistake on the date and wrote we married on 01/04/2016 instead of 04/01/2016. Good thing we cached that before sending the AOS package!

Another issue we had is that I didn't take the vaccinations on my medical in Mexico, so I wasn't aware I needed to get a form called the I-693 were I had to go to a medical facility were they reviewed my Mexican vaccination records and got this form in a sealed envelope. That took some extra cash we were not expecting and extra time to coordinate everything.

As a final hurdle we also had to wait until my husband filed his Tax Returns of 2015 so we wou

Hi. We filed in October 2015. Interviewed at the Cairo embassy on March 15th.

Since that time we have been in AP.

Our case has not had any updates. They kept my fiances passport and we have not been asked for any further documents.

In fact the CO at the interview said we were approved but they have to do 'mandatory AP'

For security background checks I believe. At least that's what I'm being told.

We are hopeful but the wait is hard. Mostly I just wish we could get 1 update so at the very least I could feel like someone is working on our case.

I'm glad so many others here are already in the States and married. Best of luck to everyone on a happy future together!
