Filing i751 close to end date?

Hello

I am trying to find out what happens if I file i751 2 weeks before the end date to file (oct7) and they decide that We need more evidence to send them, do they give more time to gather it or will it be to late. I am still waiting for tax transcripts to get here. I am worried that they have to accept it with no mistakes by the end date or I will have a big problem.

File whatever you have before the deadline and if they need more evidence they will ask for it. Best wishes!

I got my tax transcripts online, and just printed them out immediately. Could you do that?

Thanks everyone for the information. I tried to download taxes on IRS website , but they apparently are having problems and can only send them by mail.

I also had to order them by mail because the online system was not available. They arrived within a week, which I thought was fast. I ordered them in late August 2015.

I filed mine 3 days before the expiration. We were so busy and almost forgot about it. We submitted all the docs we know will be asked as well as pictures. My ROC application was approved 99 days after i filed it. If you think there's not much time to gather all the docs, just submit what you have and expect for an RFE ( or who knows, maybe none), but it would be better if you can provide them lots of proofs or evidence. You will be out of status and deportable on the Midnight of the day your greencard expires(OCt 7th in your case) IF USCIS will not have received your application and did a NOA.

Note that what matters is the time they look at your packet, Not the postmark OR the time your mail is delivered.

I mailed out mine one day to expiry and I would not wish anyone else to do that.

So, file with what you have and then wait for RFE. you dont wanna have to hire a lawyer to fix a late filing situation.

Well, more problems. Today in the mail comes a letter from IRS that says,sorry but can not process your request because of identity theft problem.

Guess that I will have to print my returns and send them. My question is do I have to sign the returns or just show them the turbo tax email showing that they were electronic filed and accepted by IRS? Do I also have to print all the work sheets?

you must sign them. Unsigned returns are no good.

Even the transcripts have signature of the IRS agent on first page.

If you filed jointly, make sure both of you sign, then make a copy.

I filed mine the day before expiration.

Time on NOA1 was 18.48pm.

I know will get an RFE as I don't have divorce decree yet, just made a note on cover sheet that divorce proceedings were still pending.

Do you have a local tax office? I had online problems too, they printed transcripts out while I waited.

I went to the tax office Friday to get copies and they told me that they only had one person working and couldn't do it. They also said that they will be closed all next week.

I went home and printed the last two years of our taxes including all the work sheets and found all my 1099's and made copies of them too. I also printed out the emails from turbo tax showing that they had been accepted by IRS. I guess that we need to sign the copies, but not sure what date I should use, either the date we filed or the date that I downloaded them.

Well, I sent everything in on 9/22/15 and they received it 9/23/15. I don't know how they notify me if they accept it or not. I guess that I just wait for a letter of NOA or RFE. I assume that's how it works.

Glad to see you filed on time. Keep working to get the transcripts from the IRS and gather any other info you can. Keep us posted.
