some jobs you can but some you need the green card...as i got an offer by a particular company that required the green card, unfortunately they cant wait on me forever so the job is gone. Oh well what can i do..

You entered on an immigrant visa. The immigrant visa automatically turned into a "green card" (I-551) the moment you entered. It is equivalent to the plastic card (which is also I-551) for all purposes. So you already had a "green card" all along.

How long is the conditional Form I-551 valid once they enter the US and get stamped?

I know that, but you tell that to the companies that wants an actual green card...

On all the manuals for employers that show them what documents are accepted, they all clearly show the immigrant visa used for entry as one of the proofs of permanent residence. Did you try it? It is illegal for an employer to refuse to accept a document that appears genuine and is on the acceptable document list. If they actually refused to accept it you can report them to the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices.
