Our NOA2 was approved August 25 and on the approval notice it says there that "NVC processing should be complete within 2-4 weeks after receiving the petition form USCIS", and " you should allow a minimum of 30 days for Department of State processing before contacting NVC". Case to case basis pa rin ata, although marami nagsusugest to contact NVC earlier kasi usually hindi naman na raw inaabot ng 1month magrelease for case#. Up to you gurl, good luck!

Thank you bob&lucy! Have you gotten your MNL number na? Do you have any idea how long should we wait to receive the packet 3? Good luck in your journey too.

Hi everyone! My NOA2 was August 7. Then it was sent to the dept of state August 21st. I kept calling every day and finally got through on September 4th. They gave me my case number. Now I'm confused on the next process. I have no idea what to do. I have searched everywhere. I asked NVC what to do and they told me to go on the website and "look around". Are we supposed to get more information in the mail of what to do!?

Hi there!!! You can start filling out your ds 160 online and start collecting your documents for your interview and medical. Go online to set an appointment for your interview by filling out ds 160 form. There are a lot of papers to gather so you should get started.

I was just on the NVC site and it said as part of the 'fees' I need to pay for a I-485 AOS which is $1070. Does that have to be paid up front before he gets his K1 visa or can we pay that after he gets here and we married?

That is the AOS (Adjustment of Status) which comes after your finace(e) gets here and the two of you get married. The only thing you have to pay for at this point is the Consulate fee for the interview, the medical exam, and police clearance certificate.

You have to do a lot of research and reading girl.... Its just here in visajourney. I suggest you read, read and reread. Stick to K1 processing topics. That 1070 dollars payment will be done in the later part when you are together already.

Click on "Portals" in the menu at the top of your page, it will take you the information regarding your countries consulate. You can read others experience with the consulate and what you need to gather for your medical and interview. Some consulates send out packets, others just let you know that they received your petition and to go to their website for the instructions and checklist. I would recommend going to the embassy's website and see if they have instructions. There should also be information on what you need to schedule your interview. You can definitely start the DS-160 form, make sure to write down your application ID, you can save your information and work on the application when you get a chance. When finished, you will need to upload a photo and electronically sign it. Good luck!

Once your I-129f has been approved by USCIS they will send your petition to NVC. The time for it to reach NVC varies for each petition. Some petitions arrive after 10 day while others may take 35 days. My petition finally arrived at NVC on day 36. When you call NVC, they will always tell you to wait 35 days or more which s their standard answer. You can call every day if you want. You do NOT need to wait 35 days to call.
