Site Filter Preventing Advice To Posters?

Captain,

I was attempting to help a poster who asked about travelers health insurance and what type was best. The site filter edited out the name of the website and company I wanted to refer the poster to, it also prevented me from posting a link for that company. My wife used this company when she traveled to the states and we were pleased with the product. Why is VJ censoring this type of material? Are we putting profits before helping people now?

Not the Captain, so I cannot answer definitively, but I know there have been a couple of websites that have asked us not to link to them, and so they get starred out when mentioned. I do not have a full lit of these, though.

Why would a company ask VJ not to link to them? Does that also mean that the name of the company will be edited out of posts as well?

There is no profit motivation. We only block links when a site formally requests it, they spam us (more along the lines of spammers that hit the site from time to time), they spam links privately in PMs and members report it (several sites have done this to try to build traffic), or other similar reasons. On the surface there is no reason we would have blocked an insurance site unless they fell into one of the above categories.
