Registering for selective service's

My husband is 25 and he just arrived in the U.S. 2 weeks ago On an IR-1 visa does he HAVE to register for selective service's and if so how long does he have to register?

Yes, he must register with SSS, even if he does not plan to naturalize. However, if he entered the US after his 26th birthday, he would have been exempt from registration. He has the option of conscientious objection, but you must still register. I believe them time frame is within 30 days after being required to register - but not 100% sure on that.

"Some non-citizens are required to register. Others are not. Non-citizens who are not required to register with Selective Service include men who are in the U.S. on a valid student or visitor visa, and men who are part of a diplomatic or trade mission and their families. Almost all other male non-citizens are required to register, including undocumented immigrants, legal permanent residents, those seeking asylum, and refugees. The general rule is that if a male non-citizen takes up residency in the U.S. before his 26th birthday, he must register with Selective Service."

It really should be nothing to worry about , the last draft was held in the early 70's ( as far as having to ever serve because you registered that is. ) You still must register.

When my husband did the DS 260 that was apart of the application. I had to print it once it was electronically signed.

OK was just reading that the one filled out on Ds260 only mean your aware that you need to formally register within 30 days of entering the US.
