obtaining nclex (split topic)

don't know where else to post this so hoping someone reads it and may be able to answer my fiancee is an RN working in Saudi right now.. she'll be here August 8

we are thinking of her eventually taking the nclex/etc but am unsure of how this goes?

has anyone here been petitioned an RN can give a brief summary of how they got their nclex?? Do we just have to go online and register to take the nclex or is there steps she needs to do..

Contact the state nursing board where you live to find out what she needs to do. Every state is different in what is required before they can sit for the NCLEX or receive a state license without having to sit for it. That is where I would start.

Contact the state nursing board where you live to find out what she needs to do. Every state is different in what is required before they can sit for the NCLEX or receive a state license without having to sit for it. That is where I would start.

thank you coa24.. i guess i started doing that but what got me confused is the CGFNS Certification part.. that part is simple enough to understand, for International RN's, their education needs to be certified first..

but, i'm looking at the forms and there are sections to be filled out BY THE SCHOOL THEY WENT TO???

my fiancee is working in Saudi and she will fly here to be with me in nyc.. how on earth am i going to send these forms to her school to be filled out/etc

i guess i was hoping someone else here already did the steps, specifically the CGFNS part and can tell me what they did.. did they just send their transcripts to be examined or did they use CGFNS forms/etc

IF she can't go, then have her send a relative or friend to the school with the paperwork. The school will know how to fill it out. I suggest once school has filled out the forms to have them put them in a sealed envelope with school seal on the back of envelope flap and then have it sent to CGNGS via Fed Ex (Either pay school to send it courier or send it yourself). Issue is trusting Philpost it may take many months to get to CGNFS or never.

They will know how to fill them out, they have instruction and I am sure it not the first time they have seen them.

This is pretty standard for getting her Transcripts evaluated by a third party, Most BON in USA require this.

I agree with VOL. Your fiancee's sister can take the CGFNS forms, along with your fiancee's signed authorization, to your fiancee's school and request her sealed transcripts. When the school has the transcripts ready, her sister can pick them up and send the sealed envelope via private carrier to CGFNS. Not only is it faster this way, but you also have the added security of the transcripts not being sent via PhilPost.

My wife, Chinook, added one more thing when she went through this process. She had her sister in law give the school a copy of her transcripts. This was suggested by the school. I believe it had something to do with making it easier for the school to find the transcripts.

These days, most state boards of nursing require an NCLEX applicant to have a social security number and to be (or to have been) licensed RNs in their home country.
