Hi everyone,

My husband (US citizen) and I plan to request for AP expedition due to an emergency situation at a local USCIS office. My application is pending and so far we haven't heard anything than USCIS received our case. We booked an appointment from Infopass this Thursday morning. We will bring:

- plan ticket confirmation

- approval of my diploma

- 2 passport photos

- my passport

Can anyone please advice us what we should do and any additional thing that we should bring.. etc.. to maximize our chance of approval?

I'm so nervous and this trip means so much to us.

Thank you so much, everyone!

My sister was approved within 2 hrs but it was her mom with terminal cancer, she brought passport, birth certificate (had to drive home to get to show relationship), treatment statement and translation. Not sure if your reason is qualified for emergency AP.

Here are the USCIS criteria for emergency AP documents:

Emergency Advance Parole Documents

If you are experiencing an extremely urgent situation, you may visit your local office to request an emergency advance parole document. When visiting a local office to request emergency advance parole, you should bring the following items:

  • A completed and signed Form I-131, Application for Travel Document
  • The correct I-131 filing fee
  • Evidence to support the emergency request (e.g. medical documentation, death certificate)
  • Two passport-style photos.

Ref: http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/travel-documents/emergency-travel

As has mentioned by others before, please elaborate on the evidence you will provide to support the emergency request.

Thank you everyone for your inputs! We went to Infopass in Virginia because we couldn't book the date we wanted in our local Baltimore office. The Infopass assistant was very nice to us. However, they couldn't grant us Emergency Advance Parole. They can only grant the Emergency Advance Parole in case of death or major health issue, none of which was our situation.

Regardless, my AP and EAD was approved in August 4 (I applied both I-765 and I-131 concurrently in July, see my timeline). So I hope I will get the card soon before our travel time.... Just praying at this point!
