We got our RFE in the mail today and as expected it was due to the fact that we met on Tumblr and we didn't provide specific details about the website. Per the notice they're asking that we submit information regarding the website and the circumstances under which we met to establish our relationship.

I had put together a letter at the start of the week in preparation for this being the cause of the RFE and I stated that Tumblr is a microblogging platform and social networking website and is in no way affiliated or classified as an International Marriage Broker. On top of that I re-explained how we met and what it was that first drew us to speaking and forming our initial friendship and subsequent relationship. I even included attached their terms of service and privacy policy as documentation to establish that they are not an international marriage broker which I got both from the website and from speaking with their customer service support team.

This should be plenty, right? I'm sending out the reply first thing Monday morning since the post office is closed until then.

It's amazing the number of different social media sites that one can meet that special person on. I'm sure it is difficult for NVC and UCIS to stay on all of them, so by getting a RFE for the reason you stated doesn't surprise me.

The outline of your response will satisfy them. You shouldn't have any problems going forward with this issue.

You can call the NVC and get your MNL# and not have to wait any longer. By moving now you can save yourself about 2 months of waiting and shortening your wait times. I explain everything for the US Embassy in The Philippines at my website. Here is where you are in the process. Follow each step from tab to tab and you will have all the information and "gotcha's" under tow.

No need to wait now you are in charge.

You'll need to wait to get your case number - which is taking about 35 days and once you have that then its all on you.

 Wrong. The OP has received their NOA2 according to their timeline so they do not have to wait any longer. They can proceed with scheduling their interview, medical and CFO. My post is for the Embassy in the Philippines and may not be the same for other Embassy's.

If any fellow Canadian July people have Montreal as their consulate, there is a really helpful thread clarifying how/when to go about sending packet 3. Every embassy seems to work slightly differently and so general information has its limits, but if this is your embassy, this thread is great! I had no clue what to do next after receiving NOA2 (except wait, obviously), but after asking questions in this thread and reading it through (it's short!) I feel way more prepared for the next step, thought I'd share instead anyone else was feeling lost at sea :content:

Most embassy's require your case number to schedule an interview or medical - I guess yours is different.

For the embassy in the Philippines, the applicant can call the NVC after they received a text message that the case has been approved in order to receive their MNL# (case number you refer to in your message above). With that number they do not have to wait for Packet 3 or 4 as they usually never arrive because the Philippine postal service sucks big time.

Each Embassy is different as to what steps you can take to speed up your processing. Some you just have to wait. Phil is not like that. That's why I developed a website to help those processing through Manila to shave up to 2 months off their processing time on their visa case. The steps are outlined (step by step) and I include all the "gotcha" mistakes to avoid.

Those who want more information about the process for the Manila Embassy follow my link in my signature below. Use the link at the twisting arrow. Good luck to all.

I know many of us here are waiting to hear update from others so they can compare their expected date based on the post they see. So here it is. I just got my case no. and there was no forwarded date to the US embassy as the case was just entered into the system and the case no. was generated today. I'm expecting USEM should be getting it soon. As I'll be visiting my fiancee in 2 weeks, I'll have her do medical and CFO while I'm there.

Good luck to everyone!!!
