It is not the responsibility of other people to fulfill us.

I don't go to the Philippines expecting other people to find me things to do and scurry around trying to make it seem like the USA. I don't look for other Americans, don't look for American food, and don't need to contact my Mommy to comfort me. When I met my wife in the Philippines I saw two Caucasians in four months. I didn't talk to either one of them.

Intelligent people plan ahead They study the place they are going and arrange themselves what they are going to do with their time before they even agree to come in the first place. I am amazed how many people claim to have lengthy relationships with people from foreign countries and know so little about where they are going to be living. It would be almost like joining a monastary and then being surprised you had to pray all the time, wear a robe, and could not have sex.

I realize the tendency at this forum is to weep for the immigrant, but before going to my wife's city I studied the history, studied maps, learned about all the different places to go, and if I had not I would be...bored. Before we agreed to get married we made sure that living in a cabin on the edge of the wilderness at fifty below zero and not seeing other people for weeks at a time was something that APPEALED to her, not something she could tolerate after discovering what it was like.

If she landed here saying oh golly I had no idea there were moose, bears and sometimes wolves coming on the property, that we would go to town once in six weeks for a supply runs in the winter, and that the water can kill you in two minutes - whose fault is that?

i got him a membership to all sports 24/7 together with my 20 yrs old brother... so that keeps him busy... they play basketball in the morning then gym workout in the afternoon... and i take him out 2-7pm since i work graveyard at the hospital...

Congrats! Tell him things will get better the longer he stays in the US. This is true for most immigrants. Sign him up at the closest public library. Get him a gym membership. Make sure he can communicate easily with friends and family in the Philippines. Try to get him to volunteer to keep him busy. There are so many things he can do while waiting for his papers. Good luck!

Here is a link for information to get him a DL.

Here is another link to help with your AOS.

My younger brother has been an Architect out in Ontario, CA for the past 30 years. He has done quite well for himself.

Your husband has a good future ahead of him. He just needs confidence to go out and make the first call on a firm who is hiring for his skill level.
