My husband and I went to see it in Boston... I did not want to go, but once I was there it was amazing to see the inside of a real body.... I could not look at the eyes of the full bodies as I found that just a bit too upsetting, I also missed the special room they had that was for babies and children... but overall I am glad I went...

None of it is really disturbing, except the room with babies/the pregnant woman. To not go is to deny yourself a really unique opportunity to see some amazing things and understand the human body better. The body is so amazingly complex and you get a chance to see so many systems at work!

It's not just a bunch of stuffed bodies or something...

There is alot of controversy surrounding the "creator" of Bodyworlds, Gunther von Hagens, and his methods. I am not a fan.

Incidentally, I know plenty about the human body and it's ins and outs. I view BodyWorlds as sensationalist and OTT.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Yes, there is a lot of controversy about the creator, but it's there now, and it's worth seeing. You can tell which parts are from his "artistic" period, and that's a little weird. I just kind of ignored those. Incidentally, my dad and several other specialized physicians were completely wowed by the exhibit. They also know a lot about the human body already but I guess they were still impressed.

It's not just people cut in half, it's isolated systems, which is really impressive.

Hm I know a lot of bad stuff about the creator, especially that they don't really know how he "bought" the bodies in Mongolia and Russia. Some people were in the media who were approached by him to buy their relatives' bodies because they had a rare disease... And in Germany, where he is from, he is not very highly regarded by other doctors, especially because a lot of exhibits are deformed and don't reflect the real state of a human's body. The exhibit with the pregnant woman is very questionable and was banned in several cities.

My sister is a doctor and said that the basic exhibits are okay, but a lot of it is more "art" than anatomy. I never went to the exhibit especially for his questionable methods of obtaining the bodies. I would be very careful with that exhibition.

I read somewhere that he bought some bodies of executed Chinese prisoners and, when he was found out, he had some of the bodies cremated. You just can't trust that all of the bodies on display were given willingly or were legally obtained.

To be honest, he sounds like a well dodgy geezer and I wouldn't want to add to his fortune by seeing his exhibit.

At first reading this I would say its something I would definitely be inerested to see, as I am myself working in the medical research field doing animal's autopsies...But, now that people are bringing up the "legality" of all this...i might search a little bit on it before going.
