The things in bold I agree with. I think everyone should be held to the same standard.

What I don't disagree with is the notion that the game ISN'T fixed. The right tries very hard to ignore the issues that plague minorities by saying it's all on you versus the problems within the system. Police brutality and you've never committed a crime? Blame other black folks. Can't get hired because your name is Duquan? Blame your parents for giving you a "black" name.

Whenever something happens and it's a clear cut case of racial discrimination, you won't hear the GOP talk about it. Their responses have always been to ignore it and just keep moving. That's my problem with it. To me it's like saying we need to fix all of the black people in the US first before any real change can come, even though racism was here first. I'd rather even out the playing field, then get rid of AA and other organizations that cater to minorities. Not the other way around..

My experience was exactly the opposite as a hiring manager - white males hired only as a last resort and they better be effing brilliant but if a female or (if all the stars align) a minority applies I had to have a reason *not* to hire them.

If you are hiring in Florida and hiring an Asian there is a 91% chance he/she scored higher than "proficient" in math, if hiring a black person the percentage is 68% - the rigged game early on creates the reality that exists in later years. No change in law is going to change the fact that if I am designing rockets and other high end technology today that of the millions of potential employees the majority of those qualified are white and Asian.

Look at google.. They went so far as to offer free coding lessons to anyone as long as they were non-white/Asian males. They made a huge huge deal about becoming more diverse and making silicon valley "less white". They have a "diversity report" the most recent of which came out this month. They happily reported that the number of black employees went up by 38% but did not report the actual numbers - people extracted it using their lasted EEO-1 report: of the 5928 new employees over 5000 were either white or Asian and men were hired at a 2:1 advantage over women. This from a company that absolutely puts a priority (and millions of dollars) on finding non-white/Asians and females.

I don't think the hiring practices and discrepancies are the result of rampant discrimination, they are a result of a society that still has layers and layers of indirect discrimination that creates people that are at a disadvantage later on.. If we try to fix the result as opposed to addressing the problems at the start then we are gaming the system and creating resentment and stereotypes/racism.

I am not crying out that things are unfair for white/Asians. The numbers show there is an obvious problem for minorities/women.

They can't hire folks who aren't qualified, that's a given. When you look at poor neighborhoods, no matter the color, the education level isn't even close to what it would be in a normal neighborhood. Also there has to be a need. You even said yourself it's a complex issue, and I agree.
