Hey everyone!

So I'm originally from Canada and my fiancé is from NY. She has mentioned possibly moving out west, specifically California after we're married . Can anyone give me any information on life out west as I've only travelled out east to visit my fiancé. I hear California is beautiful but very different in comparison to the east coast. What are your thoughts? and which do you prefer and why? Thanks!

Where in NY and where in Cali? They are both big states and have a lot of variation depending on the area. I live near NYC and love it. I like seasons, I like the pace here, I like that everything is available, I like the diversity, and love the access to transportation. There are 5 airports all about an hour from my house. I lived upstate for a few years, it was still nice, but it was different than where I live now. In my opinion, LA is just as expensive if not more expensive than where I live now. It was strange to be there in February and have everything green. The traffic was a nightmare, and public transit is not as widely available as where I live now. Also, I found that people in Cali drive slower than they do in NY. I think the lifestyle of NY or of California is not for everyone, so it depends what you're looking for. Goodluck wherever you end up.

New York is a very little state, California is large compared to New York.

You need to narrow down an area in California where you are looking to move to. California has deserts, to beaches from hot summers to cool summers.

NY tends to be "the city" or upstate and the 2 locations are as different as can be. California has big city south , big city north and flavors of beach , desert and mountain life. These are also as different as can be. Can you be a bit more specific

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
