I received an RFE today in the mail. On the application I indicated that me and my fiancé met in 2014 online but did not give specific details. they are now asking and I quote:

"Circumstances of Meeting"

You indicated that you met the beneficiary online. However you did not provide any specific details. Submit information regarding where you met the beneficiary(i.e.wesite) and the circumstances under which you and the beneficiary personally met to establish the Relationship.

International Marriage Broker(IMB)

they are saying I answered question 35 that we did not meet through a marriage broker but it is not clear what website we met and that they are not a marriage broker.

OK... I met him on an online website. What type of information do I send to them. it is not a dating site. we met exchanged numbers started texting etc... I have already met the responsibility that we met in person i.e airline tickets hotel pictures phone records. what do I need to send to satisfy " under the circumstances you and the beneficiary personally met to establish the relationship"?

Please help thanks.

I've read that sometimes it's a good idea to go online and print out the "rules and how the website works".

I would write one note saying what website it was, if remember date put that down and then explain how the relationship developed from there.

On our application we just wrote down "met online on this website and then about a month after first meeting we started dating officially"

At my fiance's interview with the embassy in JA, they asked several questions about this as we also met online but not a dating website. They wanted to know how we could possibly build a relationship and fall in love online. I realize this is still USCIS but tell them the website, how you met on that site, and explain a bit how the relationship progressed.

Best of Luck

OK so I printed the website information from Wikipedia and sent copies of both our profile pages and explained in detail of how I first contacted him and that the site is free and not IMB. I also sent a detailed letter from start to present date of our relationship and what occurred in between including our decision to meet and get engaged. I also I also added continued tmobile usage showing we still speak 2-3 times a day along with a few pictures/creditcard receipt, hotel receipt when I missed my flight home and had to stay an extra day. I feel I satisfied the RFE. I sure hope so. thanks all. I am overnighting this envelope today after work:)

I received this EXACT SAME RFE about two months ago and this is a copy-and-paste of exactly how I responded (We got the NOA2 less than two weeks later, so I think my reply was sufficient!):

To Whom It May Concern:

**** met ***** on ***** on the website Interpals [http://www.interpals.net]. As stated on the website, “InterPals has been the Internet's premier free site for online correspondence, cultural exchange, and learning foreign languages.

Created in April 1998, the site began as the "International Penpal Page." A friendly forum for people to find email and postal penpals from around the world, the page quickly became so popular that it was rebuilt from the ground up in 1999 and renamed InterPals.

Since then, the site has become by far the largest and most popular free penpal site on the web. Not only that, but it has become the go-to site for language practice and finding friends at travel locations. Still, our original mission remains unchanged: to help people meet friends from all over the world for free.” [http://www.interpals.net/about.php]

The website Interpals is NOT a dating or international marriage broker website, and ***** and ***** met on the website as penpals with the initial intention of forming a friendship. They did not establish a dating relationship until they met in person on ***** in Ghent, Belgium.

I recommend you to send a statement of how you met and information that the site you met is not a IMB

I agree with the other answers, but I didn't send details information about the site other than the name of the dating site. I told them who first contacted who, what sparks each other interesting to continue communicating, when we met and where and why we decide to we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

I have already over night mailed them my response. I included a Wikipedia detail information on the online social media site and also included pictures of each of our profile page. explained that I sent him note he responded we started chatting on our phones, video, Skype etc etc etc and decided we would meet as we have fallen in love. explained the trip and that we made an official decision to marry after we met in Jamaica. Yada yada yada... I feel that I fulfilled the RFE. really 2 weeks!! how exciting, I am hoping to be so lucky:)

From the sound of it, it seems like you submitted plenty to fulfill the RFE and shouldn't have any problems :) Hopefully you will get your NOA2 soon!

Does this mean that outside of that my petition is OK? or do they send separate RFE's for separate information? just curious that whatever the RFE is about is all the issue they have with your case.

Outside of the RFE, the rest of your petition should be OK. I believe they check everything and submit all of their requests on one RFE and only issue another RFE if you didn't properly respond to the first RFE (which it seems like you did!)
