Marriage Certificate Question?

Concerning an Italian marriage certificate, will the USCIS accept a copy of the international marriage certificate or should we just send a copy of the Italian certificate that has been translated into English? Or should we send both?

So we should bypass the international marriage certificate all-together?

I do not know what an international marriage certificate is. We sent copies of the Egyptian marriage certificate and an English translation to the USCIS and then again to the NVC. We took the originals to the interview.

If your embassy requires this document, you should have it.

That is exactly what we are trying to find out... will the USCIS and embassy in Naples accept either or?

An international marriage certificate is a marriage certificate written in multiple languages.

I know i had to send the original copy (both of the marriage certificate and the birth certificates) translated and certified and then i also had to certify the translation (because in italy there is no such thing as an "albo dei traduttori" so any translation you make (even if made by a translation office has to be certified. I have been told that international certificates are not accepted.

I sent a copy of Slovenian international marriage cert and it was ok....but this depends on the US Embassy in your country if they accept it or not.

In Europe we have international birth and marriage cert. These cert are written in all European languages including English.

Did you have to send in a copy of the apostle as well?

My wife will pick up the apostle on May 19th and she plans on getting the marriage certificate translated into English and certified.

Is the uscis requiring birth certificates of the foreign born spouses again? I thought I read where they are no longer requiring that? Or are you talking about the interview process?

USCIS does not require the beneficiary's birth certificate. The NVC only requires a copy and the Consulate requires the original.
