Honeymoon on AP

Hello VJers!

I have a question regarding AP. I know the whole "re-entering is always at the discretion of the officer" but here's my situation.

I filed my AOS after entering on K1 and should receive my AP soon (I havent book anything yet and not planning to do so before having documents in hand) Husband and I are planning to go to Hawaii for honeymoon. Here's the thing. Tickets from Montreal (my hometown) to Hawaii are half the price of what we would be paying flying from where we live. We were thinking of going to Canada, visiting family for 2-3 days and then flying to Hawaii from Montreal. Is there any chance i'll have problems going back? would they find it weird to exit to country to re-enter to go on honeymoon?

You will not have any problems travelling with AP - that's the purpose of the document. Have fun!

You don't have anything to worry about. As long as your have the AP/combo card, you should be fine. You didn't even wait that long after marriage to file AOS so you are good. Suggestion though from someone who just traveled with the combo card, bring your marriage certificate, NOA2 for your AOS and AP. Some immigration agents have NO IDEA there is even a combo card so its better to also show them your approval notices and your marriage certificate. I also brought that glossy paper the combo card was attached to for proof. Other than that, have a wonderful honeymoon!

The purpose of AP is to allow you to reenter US, so it shouldn't matter that you

go to Canada --> Hawaii --> Back home.

Is your honeymoon worth not being able to get back into the country?

She said she's NOT going to travel until she has necessary documents to reenter on hand,

so did you misunderstand the question?
