Hi folks. So BlueNile.com looks to be a great place, but I wonder about some of the sporatic horror stories I read. Epinions.com is really positive on them, with very few negative reviews.

Has anyone here purchased from them? Can anyone tell me first hand or even second hand expeirences?

My lady is hot to trot over the 5 stone Platinum Diamond Rings they have. :help:

i bought a diamond from them. i am very pleased with the results.

the local jeweler i took it to get it mounted on a ring of my choice told me, after i informed her of what i pad for it, that there was no way they, the local jewelers, could compete with that.

Just for fun, I built my engagement ring on Blue Nile. It's got the right size stone, the same setting and the cost of it is as near as dammit what mine was appraised for (the stone was my husbands grandmothers).

(Yeah, I know that was not the point of the thread, but it was fun!)

My husband purchased an engagement ring there for me, and I was quite pleased with it. (Well, I asked that he changes the setting and the metal and the stone, when he first "showed" it to me, but after that I was very pleased!) We also bought wedding rings there. Overall, it was a good experience with ordering, quality, and value.

I bought a watch on Blue Nile it was fine. Arrived in a nice box and everything. Also if you buy from Blue Nile via American Airlines website you can get milage toward a future ticket for each dollar you spend on Blue Nile. So if you are buying a nice ring then that could rack up some milage quickly!

My husband bought my engagement ring from them. I love my engagement ring its of very good quality and very unusual and the box it came in was so lovey- a very nice keepsake. Delivery was on time by fedex I believe. The ring was also very good value according to Matt, he compared costs shopwise and he saved a lot of money using Blue Nile. Thats our experience with them!

We had no problems at all with them I would highly recommend them.

I bought my wife's engagement ring from them - at a price much much reduced from what I would have paid in the UK. The only problem was that they would not deliver to the UK. So, they arranged to have it shipped to the local FedEx office in San Fran a couple of weeks later (I was travelling to San Fran on business) so that it would be there to pick up when I arrived in town.

We subsequently bought both our wedding rings from their. My wifes engagement ring got battered around a bit when she was at work, and they fixed it and cleaned it for free for us.

So don't be afraid of them - my only advice is that I felt comfortable buying from their because I had done an inordinate amount of research and knew exactly what I wanted. I went round all the local jewellers in the UK (and was astounded at how they tried to sell you ####### for huge amounts) so I could decide what of the 4 C's I wanted, and then went back to BN and ordered it online.
