Multiple affadavits of support

My partner in the USA is a low income earner (11$ an hour fulltime) and as he had been living in australia with me last year, doesnt have a years worth of taxable income to show on his W-2 (he has about 9 months worth).

I was planning to get him to do me an affadavit of support, but am wondering should I also get his father (who is pretty wealthy/stable) to do one as well? Or will they only accept one, in which case, which should I do?

If your husband don't meet the federal poverty guidelines for your household size, you can use a joint sponsor. The joint sponsor, such as his dad, must then meet the poverty guidelines for his household size on his own. Just remember that regardless of your husband's salary level, he, the petitioner, must always be the main sponsor.

Can you be more specific about the terms joint and main sponsor? Is there a separate form for a joint sponsor? I read the regular form but didn't see this mentioned on it.

Just realized you're doing a K-1, I'm doing an IR-1 but I think the AOS is still the same. Your fiancé would need to fill out the AOS form as the petitioner and then his dad will fill in another AOS as the joint sponsor.

The petitioner is always the main sponsor, even if they make no money at all; the joint sponsor is the "helper", in this case the father-in-law

Current income is what matters for the affidavit of support, not what income was made last year. At $11 an hour full time, that comes to a $22,880 annual salary, which is more than enough for a household size of 2 (you and him). In this case a co-sponsor is not needed. You just need to include proof of his current income such as an employment letter and pay stubs.
