Hello again to all,

I just wanna ask if the consule required to have the joint bank account for AOS (green card) interview?

I already done my biometric the other day and now preparing proofs for my coming interview. We went this morning to the bank to have joint account but the bank needed 2 ID's But I didn't get the State ID or driver's permit because of my I-94 already expired.

Hope you share some ideas. Thank you.

Yes, most banks require a SSN as well as a picture ID to be on an account or start your own. As to the AOS, it is not required to have a joint account, but it helps to show a valid relationship. If you can't get one in time for the interview (if you have one) then gather all the information you have showing a valid relationship. Also, once you get your EAD/AP card you can apply for a SSN and get the account jointly probably in time for the interview.

Good Luck!

I only have SSS card but the bank needed two. Are those EAD/AP can I use them as a valid ID if I get them?

EAD is a federal ID card.

I am surprised the bank wouldn't accept your passport as an ID. When my wife and I created a joint account, we used her SSC and her Russian passport and had no issues except we had to put it in her maiden name. Once we received the EAD we changed her SSC to her married name and changed over the accounts online. Does your SSC match your passport?

I did not have a joint account with my husband until I received my EAD. Then with that and the SSN I was able to be added to his account. I did not have an AOS interview anyways but they never asked me to submit joint account. They did request a good conduct certificate in a RFE! :( God knows why.
