If Embassy Doesn't supply packet 3....how to print off case number?

Maybe I am not asking the right question or maybe a little misguided. But I am wondering how you can get a copy of your case number/"ready" status with case number on it if you do not receive packet 3 and letter from NVC with case number?

From http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#required-docs

  1. "Letter of Case Number

If Letter of Case Number was received via email, print 3 copies for the principal applicant and 2 copies for each derivative.
    • Principal Applicant - original & 2 photocopies
    • Derivative - 2 photocopies
  2. Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation from the U.S. Embassy , if available
If Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation was received via email, print 3 copies for the principal applicant and 2 copies for each derivative."
    • Principal Applicant - original & 2 photocopies
    • Derivative - 2 photocopies"

Thanks in advance.

I guess what if the NVC does not send the letter? Or maybe I am misunderstanding. I ask because I know there have been instances where NVC and the Embassy never sent the letters.

You call NVC to get MNL case number.

Are you talking about the NAO2 letter? If so, then yes, I did receive that letter. If no, then I have not received it. I guess when I read case number letter, I am thinking of a letter from the NVC itself stating your case number, not the receipt number.

NVC mails you a letter with the MNL # and some other info, that is what you copy and email to your fiancee. If you have not received that from NVC yet, try contacting them to ask about the letter so they send it. AND/OR email NVC (info in my link below) and request your MNL #, have to use the correct format in the email.

Lastly, SLEC only need copies the NVC letter or the Interview confirmation... not both. If the guard asks about the MNL # simply state it was received over the phone.

Thanks Hank! Thought you had to have both the NVC Case letter and the appointment letter (if available), somehow I miss the part on your SLEC medical section about either/or. So definitely good to know if you set up an appointment that you do not need the case letter. I did email NVC this morning for the letter and they asked for all of that information . case number/receipt number, beneficiary date of birth, beneficiary name and petitioner name and reason for inquiry. So hopefully that will get a response unless I have to put that information in the actual body of the email.

The embassy website clearly states you only need one or the other, but SLEC "conveniently" forgets to have the OR on their website.

There is a proper format for the required info when emailing NVC, they stated this in their reply email to you and I have it listed in the guide

REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:

You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:

* NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).
* Petitioner's name and date of birth.
* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth. (Beneficiary)

I see, this is the form I used that was provided by them http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/contact/ask-nvc.html. First time I used it last week, never received a reply back. I sent another today through that route, but also used what you have and sent them and email directly.

No. Use your emai to contact NVC, with the required info in the required format (as listed in my earlier posting)

Not so much worried now about the case letter anymore since if you have interview set up, you just have to provide that information instead. Though would be nice to have as reference. I am thinking we will go for medical and interview in May. So I am just finishing up on getting documents in order for her to print off and to send original signed documents to her, i.e. I-134 and supporting documents, and updated letter of intent to marry.
