Hi friends,

I sent my I-129F petition a few weeks ago. I just received a form that says i-797C Notice of Action receipt in the mail. It has a receipt number, and I checked the status online. It says that it's being processed. What is the next thing to expect, and in the meantime, should I be doing something? I'm not sure what I should be doing to prepare. I've read a lot of things online, but I do not really understand the NOA1 or NOA2.

Anyone who can give me a brief run-through- I would so appreciate it.

Congrats on sending in your petition.

Hopefully you guys wont have to wait as long as some of us.

How it works:

1. Send in I-129F to Dallas Lockbox

2. I-129F is routed to either California or Texas Service Centers. Once it is routed they send you "NOA1". Which is the I-797C Notice of Action that you already have. Save it! This is your NOA1!

3. Wait till the I-129F is reviewed

4. I-129F is reviewed. If no issues you will receive an NOA2. This is the approval of the I-129F. If you have issues, they will send you a request for evidence in which you will have to respond to.

5. Once everything is said and done they send it to National Visa Center to be processed and sent to Juarez.

6. Package is send to Juarez.

7. Juarez sends the Packet 3 (Instructions to gather needed material for Interview)

8. You gather everything and then contact Juarez and tell them you're ready for your interview.

***I get hazy here because I haven't gone through it yet but maybe someone can piggy-back off of this timetable***

Hope this helps.

FYI: If your Fiancé lives in Mexico City, he can do his medical exam downtown near Reforma.

NOA1 is just a letter letting you know they have recieved your application now you can go on the USCIS website to check your status with the receipt number. NOA2 is a letter regarding the decison on your case. There is nothing you can do I guess you just have to pray and wait. In the mean time gather your document for NVC.

Hello, good day. I wanted to ask something. My fiance received an email yesterday stating that our case was accepted and in 7-10 days they will send an official receipt of Notice to him. What we don't understand and a bit worried is that they sent our packet to California instead of in Texas. He lives in New York, so our packet should be in Texas. Is that something we should worry? THANK YOU...

Nope you're just one of the lucky people who the USCIS routed the petition to California. Most Mid March-April filers are going to California regardless of location.

So, congrats on what will be a quick approval.

Since ours is also at the California Service Center, how long do you think it will be approximately on average before our interview? I actually didn't think this would be so fast. I planned for 6-8 months. My fiance won't even be ready to come for another 3 months probably.
