I am sorry to hear that.

I think your case is taking a little too long since you have not even got your interview letter yet which usuallly arrives a month ahead of time. When you think about it this way, it will push you outside of the normall processing time. If I were you, I would either call them to find out what is going on, or if that is what you have done, then try to make an infopass on uscis website. I personally don't mind waiting, but I'd like to know where I am in the whole process.

Hope you can hear from them soon, and good luck!

Hi All,

I sent my case on March 30th to Texas Service Center. It was received on April 1st. Check was cashed immediately. I was finger printed towards the end of the month. Since then no communication from USCIS.

My field office is San Antonio, TX but my file is with NBC, Missouri.

At the time of writing this note, San Antonio office is processing cases that were filed on March 23rd, 2015.

My question is more around is this a regular wait time or should I be concerned?

Are there any folks who applied around same period and still in waiting?

Agreed. The major obstacle is the cost. A really good immigration attorney will charge at least $3500-$4000 for as little as filling out couple pages of N-400 and appearing with you at the interview in person. But if you can spare $4000 by all means do hire immigration attorney, no matter how clear and straightforward your case is.

Personally, I would recommend an immigration attorney to any people doing paperwork with USCIS (and this is just my humble opinion, you may disagree with me), even if you have a clear and straightforward case. These are my reasons:

- If your case is not moving at all, the attorney will be the one dealing with USCIS phone calls, tier 2 officials, e-request, service requests, infopasses, etc, etc.
- Reduces the chances of notifications getting lost in the mail, since USCIS mails notifications to both you and your lawyer.
- The attorney represents naturalization cases in your area, so he or she will know if your case is behind schedule or under normal processing times.

First Amendment and separation of Church from State has a lot more to it than most of our contemporaries realize.

The truth is, the Pilgrims were Puritan fascists who were only looking for their
own
religious freedom. They were too ... independent and fanatical even for the more mainstream zealots of English and European Reformations. They called themselves “Puritans” because they were dedicated to
purifying
the Church of England of Roman influences. They
hated
Rome and they
hated
heretics, and they
hated
sinners and they really hated
witches
. Their reigning English King, James I was also a foaming Protestant Scottish witch hunter, and was every bit as fanatical as the Pilgrims were, since they were all theological soul mates. But James I actually had to sophisticate himself a bit, particularly stifling his witch-hating fanaticism when he took power in England. He had to accommodate the more moderate and educated Protestantism that then still held great sway in his English Court and Parliament. This social moderation at home however, didn’t slow him from encouraging the exportation of sharp, Puritan zeal to his growing colonies in the New World though, where raw Puritanism would be free to dominate the new society he intended to found there.

I say with very little exaggeration, that living under Puritan rule in the New England American Colonies would be nearly as religiously oppressive as living under the Taliban in Afghanistan, or Wahhabi ruled Saudi Arabia. The principle difference between Sharia Law and Pilgrim Law would be that the Pilgrims let women show
puritan-whipping_thumb.jpg?w=244&h=244

their whole faces in public. the Puritans in particular on the other hand, weren’t all that put off by the Inquisition’s tactics or even goals in and of themselves. The Puritans and many other Reformers in truth just wanted the Inquisitional zeal applied unilaterally up and down the Church ranks from clergy to commoner. They just didn’t think you should be able to buy or politic your way out of being tortured into a confession of heresy. They figured that kings, Popes and bishops and priests were just as good candidates for heresy as anyone else—the more the merrier. Puritans in short, actually wanted
more
repression and
more
micromanaging of the Body of Christ. They wanted the power to institute the same sort of fanatical purification of Christendom that the Inquisition only
pretended
to enforce, and then only selectively, often for personal, social, or political reasons. The Puritans wanted their newly cleansed Protestant Inquistition to be
universally
applied to all Christians of whatever rank. The Puritans wanted
everyone
to be beaten into piety whatever his station in the Church or society– they just wanted to insure it was being done fairly and correctly by a dictatorial theocracy of their
own
design. We read about the Salem Witch trials, some decades after the Pilgrims landed, and think that hanging nineteen men and women as witches on the say-so of a couple of snotty little girls looking for attention was a fluke carried out by an isolated, small group of inbred fanatics. We think the old man they crushed under stones for refusing to submit to their trials was the result of some abnormal paranoia due to the bunker mentality of a pioneer colony in a harsh new land. When we read about the dozens of fellow colonists they just let rot in jail for months as they queued them up for their American Inquisition, we assume that this sort of fiendish treatment had to be the product of some sort of atypical mass mental illness brought about through a bad diet and not enough sunlight. But no,
that’s what Puritans did
.

I'm in the same boat with near identical dates as yours. I'm definitely outside the normal processing times so I've booked an InfoPass appointment this Tuesday at the local Houston office.

I would like to know what the hold up is since I didn't receive any RFE or any other kind of communication since the biometrics notice.

I am in the same boat, case recieved on April 14, biometrics May 5th or 6th, nothing since. Called uscis and my last call with them (2 weeks ago) they were going to open up a service request but told me the system would not let them for another 30 days :ranting: had my senator inquire about my case twice now (last week being most recent) and all they keep saying is it's still in the background check phase. Yay for more waiting  Someone sure is being pokey with my case.

Hiring a immigration lawyer in this case is of no use, unless the filer has communication/ language problems what would a lawyer do is just fill out the application for you, create a info-pass, talk to the senator and that's it. In no means USCIS is going to expedite anyone's case if they hire a immigration lawyer. I know folks whose cases were stuck during removal of conditions and they hired lawyers which was a mere waste of money their cases took as much time as the people who didn't hire any lawyers.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I agreed with the opinion of the other poster , who articulated very well why you may need an attorney even if your case is straightforward and clear, and I disagree with yours.

P.S. Hiring an INCOMPETENT immigration attorney is a guaranteed waste of funds, no matter what your case is, but I specifically referenced a good one.

I did INFOPASS twice after my I-485 interview. On both occassions I was advised to wait 120 days.Few days after the second INFOPASS my case was approved.

I don't know how INFOPASS works at your local office, but in Baltimore DO going to INFOPASS is not any different from Googling the websites and reading off the USCIS page. It felt as if the case officers in charge were not looking up my case, but reading off the script, just like when you dial 800 number and get to tier 1 CSR.

Good luck

I am still waiting.

Sorry to hear that. I know waiting is hard. You should book an appointment to go check on your case at your local field office if you haven't done that yet. Use this link https://infopass.uscis.gov// All the best of luck.
