Quick summary of our story.. Met online in 2004 and stayed friends for 8 years. Decided we wanted to begin a relationship. Stayed together for a year when he came to visit me, we were together in person for two months when we decided we wanted to get married. Got married and two months later he went back to the UK to work to save up money so we could file for an adjustment of status. I found out I was pregnant . He tried to come home for Christmas but his visa was expired. So we decided to apply for the cr1 while he was still there. Was told that it would be hard to visit each other without proof of him being able to return to UK. So he stayed there during this entire process. It's been 18 months since I have seen him. Does us getting married after 2 months throw up red flags even though we've known each other for 8 years prior? We've been together 2.5 years now and have a beautiful daughter. I'm just so scared that something will go wrong and we won't be able to be a family.

What visa did he have that expired? Why did he not renew it?

Because we decided just to go ahead and go through with filing while he was still in the UK rather than applying for another tourist visa. We didn't know it would take this long.

I doubt that they will question your relationship just based on what you said.

Normally British Citizens do not need a visa to visit the US, just wondered if there is something else going on.

I can't remember exactly what happened but he had applied for a visa to work here while he visited me, but was denied that. And then came on a regular tourist visa. He was denied visa waiver and we don't know why. He's never broken any laws or stayed in the United States past his time allowed.

Normally, you can't travel under the VWP if you've been denied a visa previously, so that's probably why he got denied the ESTA.

Just would like to give you nice positive hope, I hope you will feel better. Me and my wife met online, we planned our marriage and stayed 1 month together in country I work. then spent 15 days. She visited me in 2013 ( after a year of marriage) . Last month I had interview and was very smooth. I got approval. Don't be scared. He will get approval. Just ask him to bring all the proofs to embassy ( communication ) . Question yourself before interview what are the possible questions where you need to think and answer. Prepare nice summary and answer them.

Prepare relationship timeline and remember all important dates like when you met, when he proposed you, who proposed first, when you get married ? what is the DOB of your daughter? how old is she?

My husband left in October of 2013 the same month we found out I was pregnant. I went through the pregnancy and everything alone. She was born on June 3rd 2014 and she is currently 9 months old. We have Skype screen shots of them on camera together and everything. Thank you for your post it does make me feel a lot better! :)

My story is similar, we met online in 2003, went into an online relationship in 2005 and finally met in person in 2011. Due to finances etc, we only managed to meet on average twice a year for 2 weeks at a time. It wasn't an issue at the interview. They ask really basic questions.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Thanks everyone for your stories and replies! It really helps! His interview is on my birthday on Tuesday at 8 am. I am a nervous wreck!

Once approved, what is the average wait time to get the visa in your hands?

A week, maybe less.

Is there a reason you could not visit him?

Yeah my 5 year olds father and I have shared custody, and even though his father only has him every other weekend, he refuses to sign his passport papers to let him go with me. As much as I love my husband, my children come first. I can't just leave him with a baby sitter while I fly across the world without him. It's not fair to do that to a 5 year old, you know? We have just been waiting and waiting and every time we thought it was close for him (my husband) to get his interview, we were thrown another obstacle. It's finally time, and it's just very scary that one interview determines our lives right now.
