Does anyone know how long it takes to get the interview date? My documents were approved three weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything from the National Visa Center about the interview date. I am a little concerned that it shouldn't take this long to schedule one...

Did you get the "Documentarily Qualified" aka case complete email from the NVC, or just a notice in CEAC that your documents were accepted?

It was 11 days from when we submitted our IV package to when the NVC declared us Documentarily Qualified and another 8 days until we received the interview letter, so a total of 19 days. I'd say 3-4 weeks would still be a reasonable time frame to expect an interview date. Tokyo schedules interviews for the next month out so if you got your DQ notice towards the latter half of the month your date could have been pushed back. I don't think it's been long enough to be overly concerned. For what it's worth, we received our interview date email at 4:55pm EDT on Friday, 4/19/2019.

Yes, I did receive the "Documentarily Qualified" email from the NVC on 9/20. I am expecting the interview will be held in November or possible December, but I haven't heard anything since 9/20...

I wouldn't worry just yet. Like I said it's likely that because you were DQed later in the month your interview date got pushed into the November block. The NVC is won't contact you until the consolate schedules your interview and they only schedule one month at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if you are notified by next Friday or the following Monday.

I received the interview date, finally. My wife will go in for the interview on November 4th. I thought the interview would be much later in November. I didn't think it would be so soon... I don't know if we will get the medical results in time before the interview. Does anyone know if you can send the medical results at a later date after the interview? Also, did anyone get an interpreter for their interview? My wife doesn't speak English.

Congratulations! If you visit the homepage for the consolate you can request a new interview date. We ran into the same problem so we ended up pushing our interview back by two or so weeks.

I need some advice if anyone can help. I am looking over the documents before the interview and I just realized that I mistranslated the first name of my mother in law... I made the same typo on the DS-260... Does anyone have any advice if this can be fixed without any issues if we were to resubmit the correction translation and inform them to correct the DS-260 on the interview day?

Hi ,

I also got similar interview date.

And I input my husband name wrongly lol

I think you can inform that at the interview and they can make corrections.

After your interview, would you please share how it is about that.

Have a great weekend :)

Hello Japan Filers,

I have a question regarding the Drivers License.

Did you convert your Japanese Drivers License or did you take an exam/test for US drivers license? Thanks

Cherry

It will largely depend on the rules for the state you live in. I can only speak for the rules in New York. I recommend consulting the Department of Motor Vehicles website for your state for your specific requirements.

New York State is very strict when it comes to...everything, so my wife is required to get her learner's permit, take a 5 hour pre-licensing course, and the road test in order to get her New York State driver license, even though she has a current Japanese driver license and international driver permit. In contrast, when she was an international student in Texas some years ago she was able to take the written test and road test in a single day and get her Texas driver license.
