Tragically, more than 39,000 people died by suicide in the United States in 2011. Homicide claimed another 17,000 people¹.

I am just showing that gun violence is not just a minority problem. I am not being biased in any way. I can leave that up to some other VJers who do quite well at this.

You are probably talking to the wrong person regarding suicide. I see it as a human right that should be legalized. Oregon currently is the only US state that allows euthanasia.

Otherwise, no. There are plenty of people who decided on suicide, had a botched attempt, realized their life was precious, and are now able to live and learn from their experience.

I think you are talking about doctor assisted, or the ability to prescribe the drugs necessary to do the job on ones own.

And many who have botched attempts are perm. maimed or vegetables. They should have a right to die cleanly.

It's not difficult to see that the "arm everyone" strategy isn't working. That's what inner city gangs have been doing for years and we see the carnage that leaves behind. It's not hard to understand that the carnage would be less severe or even absent if these folks didn't have that easy and ready access to firearms. Too hard to understand for some, apparently.

Then they get treated and no longer want to kill themselves. The notion is to bring these people through a legal means instead of dying in the shadows.
