Have to have interview in home country?

Hello: My fiance is from Nigeria, but currently residing (without residence) in Turkey. Do we have to file in Nigeria, or can we go through the K1 process in an embassy in Turkey? A lawyer advised that he would need to travel back to Nigeria, but I was given other advice to the contrary. Has anyone else gone through this? Thanks.

You can put down the beneficiarys home address as one in the home country and that means (when it comes to the time) that the interview and medical will be conducted there.

Thank you. He is currently in Turkey and we would like to handle all of it there so he need not travel to Nigeria. So, can we put the address in Turkey?

He needs to be legally resident where he is to interview and receive the visa there. Your opening post kind of implies he is in Turkey illlegaly, in which case no, he canot interview there. He can stay there until medical/ interview time, but would need to do those things in a country he is legally resident in.

I may have read your initial question wrong.

You can only conduct the medical and interview where you have residential status.

Unless you have residential status you would have to go back to your home country where you have residential status after noa2
