Amazingly the 3rd N/A showed up!! We were really hoping for some good news before I left so it was great to see that. Will be calling nvc on Monday to confirm a CC.

Hi Navster,

It's interesting, we have almost the same NOA1 and NOA2 dates :-)

Have you been calling the NVC? It's not advisable to rely on their letters because sometimes it takes long for them to get to us. For example, I just finalized my process with the NVC by having my interview scheduled last Friday - but only two days before that I received my introductory "Welcome to NVC" letter in Brazil :clock:

I would suggest you to call them and confirm if they received the two batches of documents you've sent. Unfortunately the NVC is not known for being well-organized with managing documents - we've seen them issuing checklists (requests for more information) for people who sent documents separately because they didn't get all the documents together. If you get a checklist like this, it may delay your process a bit more.

In fact, just the fact that you have not heard from them may be a good sign. Because if they issue you a checklist, your waiting time will be reset from the time you respond to it - and then, they say they need 30 more days... it's terrible.

Another thing: have you sent them the originals of your documents? You need to call them and make sure they will be returned to you since it's mandatory to present them at the interview.

So, give them a call and see what they have to say. If you haven't yet, register your e-mail with them so you can know faster about any development of your case.

Let us know how it goes, good luck!

Hello BRlove !!

Thankyou for the follow up !! And Yes i have sent em all my original Documents coz my agent said they need originals and i will make sure i get em back but i think they will send my documents directly to the embassy and will be handed over to me on the day of my interview, but i will ask em beforehand anyway. And No i have not been calling NVC yet i thought waiting for one month from the receipt of confirmation letter by NVC would be ok. Do you suggest calling them ?

I am happy for you that you received your interview date so quick. Gudluck

Hi!

Well, my case was not very quick. Some people have been getting case complete 17-20 days after their documents are scanned. Mine took 35 days. And I think it would have been worse if I were not on top of it. But I'm glad it's over.

May I ask who your agent is? Is it your spouse or a lawyer?

I think calling them is very important - the NVC doesn't move well on its own. Most people here call them almost daily - in my case, I simply had to because the NVC has made a few mistakes in my case. For example, a system bug locked my daughter's case for two weeks, and then I waited more 25 days just because they needed to scan my i-130 petition to send it to the embassy. If I never called them, I would never have known it and I could not have asked them to fix it... I'd probably be waiting until now.

But this is a DYI forum - almost everybody here manage their cases by themselves.

A question for those that have submitted documents to the NVC:

DId you submit simple photocopies or did you get the copies certified or notarized? I know DOS website says photocopies and makes no mention of certified copies, but I have seen mixed opinions regarding what kind of copies to submit the the NVC.

Just want to make sure we don't get a checklist over something like this. Is certified copy same as notarized copy?

Thanks

Hi,

Simple copies are fine, they do not need to be notarized. We are supposed to take the originals to the interview.

Just make sure you don't miss any document - and that your i-864 was filled correctly and it's signed.

Exactly what BRlove said- regular photo copies. Also ensure you are using the most up to date version on the I864.
