Consulate Review: Islamabad, Pakistan
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : Hi guys!!

So my visa was approved on November 5th Alhamdulillah . The whole process was quite smooth and easy for me. I traveled to Islamabad from Karachi with my parents and stayed at New Orchard guest house that is just 10-15 minutes away from the consulate. So on the day of interview, I reached the consulate at 5:45 and waited outside for the gates to open. They opened the main gate a little after 6 am and checked passports/ID cards before letting anyone in. After that, I got into the line for getting shuttle ticket which is of Rs.200. They started giving tickets at around 7 pm. I submitted my phone at the very last counter on the right and went through the security check for shuttle service. I would advice you guys to sit in the front lines to get the first few seats in the bus.

The shuttle took us to the embassy which is a 7-10 minute drive. Again, we went through minor security checks.

After finally getting into the embassy, I was given a token number and asked to take a seat. I was called three times to the windows for different purposes.
First: They took my fingerprints and asked who I was going to (I replied, my husband). They usually ask for photos in this step but as my husband had already sent mine to the NVC, the embassy people already had it so I wasn't asked for any.
Second: I was called again after 10 minutes or so to submit my original documents and choose the language I wanted to be interviewed in (I chose English)
Third: The interviewer called me after like 30 - 40 minutes or maybe an hour (I don't really remember, time passes by very quickly there ) and my interview started!!! I must say the interview officer I got was very nice (blonde with blue eyes and a tattoo on his arm, just if you come across him ) as apposed to few others who were there with blank faces and no expressions, maybe because it's their job.

Interviewer: Good morning
Me: Good morning to you too
Interviewer: So is it first marriage for both of you?
Me: yes
Interview: Was it a love or arranged marriage?
Me: It was arranged
Interviewer: What does your husband do in US?
Me: I told him that.
Interviewer: When was the last time he visited Pakistan?
Me: In December last year for our marriage.
Interviewer: Ok everything looks fine to me so I'm approving your visa. You will receive it in 10 days.
Me: Thank you very much.
Interviewer: Have a good day

and I was DONE!!!

TIPS:
- Don't carry any kind of cosmetic or medicine in your bag.
- Stay calm and composed. The whole process can be long and frustrating for some people so be as nice and positive as you can.
