I have a couple of questions on the NVC document cover sheet. Under financial Documents. It list proof of US status do I (the us citizen )need to send in my birth certificate or passport? Also it ask for proof of relationship do I need to send in chat logs and facebook chats to to NVC? is the marriage certificate the only proof I need at the NVC? I was going to send more proof later to my wife to take at the interview.

Under supporting Documents it ask for petitioner documents. Is that my documents and what documents from me do they need? I know they need all my wife documents.

Do I just check not applicable for these questions?

Confusing isn't it? Possibly why the NVC phone line is always busy, because most people are confused about all this!

I see that you have gotten thru your confusion so tell me please, the AOS packet is what I (petitioner) do & the IV packet is what my foreign wife does, correct?

yes the AOS is the financial documents. It will be mainly your information . The IV packet will be all your wife civil documents

You should mail both packets together

So did you figure out what they mean by "petitioner documents"? I am confused about it myself. Did you end up selecting not applicable against it? Thanks

This is what was on the NVC website under petitioner documents.

Petitioner Documents

If you are applying for an IR5 (parent of a U.S. citizen) or F4 (brother or sister of a U.S. citizen) visa you must obtain an original (or certified copy) of your petitioner’s birth certificate.

  • You must send a photocopy of your petitioner's birth certificate to the NVC.
  • You must submit the original (or certified copy) and a photocopy of your petitioner's birth certificate to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.

So yes I just marked N/A for petitioner documents. For the AOS packet alone with the I-864 form ( do the EZ version if you can) I sent in last three tax transcript even though only the latest is required and about 5 months of paystubs

For the IV packet I sent in the marriage certificate 2 passport photos of my wife. A copy of my wife passport page and other documents that was required from the Manila embassy. I did not send any personal document of mine only my wife doucuments

Also I did not send any additional proof such as chat, text logs or more pictures of us. As the relationship part was proven at the USCIS stage. The NVC is more about making sure the beneficiary has the right documents for the interview and that the petitioner is able to support the person

that looks correct but I found out after I sent in my documents that you only need one cover sheet with packets

I sent my the way you are sending it. As long as you have the correct documents and a cover sheet with the barcode letters on it, then it will be ok

Thanks for your quick reply,

Ok, so submit only 1 Document Cover Sheet for both AOS/IV package. I will do that.

I am confuse with police certificate after reading the instruction, requires from age 16 and up

1. My wife resides to sweden from Vietnam since age of 22, so def she needs police record from sweden from age of 22 and up.

How abt the period of age 16-22 she was in vietnam, does she need to obtain the police record from that time in vietnam ?

2. I plan to fly over to stockholm sweden on my wife's interview date,

Will they let me in with her interview as supporter as well as interpreter? she does not speak english nor swedish well, and she does not know anyone there capability.

Documents the Applicant Must Submit to the NVC

Photocopy Requirements

You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States should collect civil documents to support your visa application.

  • You must send photocopies of all required civil documents to the NVC.
  • You must submit the originals (or certified copies) and a photocopy of each of your civil documents to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.
  • _____________________________________________________________________
  • _______________________________________________________________________
  • I AM THE PETITIONER (IN US), MY WIFE IS APPLICANT IN RUSSIA. WHY DO THEY SAY SHE "MUST SEND...." TO THE NVC? SHE CAN'T SEND ANYTHING,.... SHE IS IN RUSSIA! IF I AM TO INCLUDE THESE CIVIL DOCUMENTS IN MY PACKET THEN WHY DON'T THEY SAY "YOU, THE PETITIONER, SHOULD INCLUDE HER CIVIL DOCUMENTS IN YOUR PACKET TO THE NVC". (ON THE COVER SHEET THEY ARE CALLED "SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS")

I just discovered another Document cover sheet and printed it. Now I have 2 completely different cover sheets, both saying this page needs to be on top of packet. Both have the bar code, 1 has boxes that should be checked telling what doc's are in packet or not. The other does not have these boxes but says I MUST RETURN THIS COVER SHEET............ OK, so i'll return both! But both can not be on top!!! These people are idiots, although, when you are able to reach someone, they talk to you as if you are an idiot.

Depend on who she choose to be agent. If it were you, then you would be the one ( petitioner or agent ) collecting all supporting documents yourself and civil documents from hers. Send both packages in with 2Sheet Cover mentioned above

I myself a USC petition for my swedish wife. I filled out the DS-261 to choose myself as agent. I collected all civil documents from her side.

I finaly got intouch with NVC rep after hundred of dialing calls. They open my Case Number and since she is Swedish Citizen, She is required to send in only copy of Marriage Cert, Her Passport Valid Page, and Her 2xPassport Photo, and Her Swedish Police Record Extract. They do not require Police Record from her previous country at the age of 16 to 27 before she moved to Sweden. Swedish Police Record will cover all that. I still send both Police Records in since I already obtained both records.
