This question might sound really dumb, but my fiance and I are so new to this and just starting to figure everything out. I know I have to send in the form I-129F and the check payment of the fee to the Dallas lockbox. Do I need to send only that form and money by themselves initially? Or do I need to send other things with it (like the G-325a, the I-134, birth certificate, photos, etc.)? Are these other forms, etc. just needed at the interview, or do they need to be sent with the initial I-129F petition? So sorry for this super basic question! I'm sending it this week and just want to make sure I've got everything right. Thanks!

Hii!! Don't be sorry, this process can be quite confusing and the USCIS Instructions are not completed (Thank God for Visa Journey).

You MUST send ALL the other things required with the Initial I-129F. Please follow the step-by-step here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Don't forget to include the evidences that you have met in person for the past two years and proofs of the ongoing relationship (Pictures, chat logs, boarding passes, stamps and everything else you think that will provide them enough evidences - You don't need to send 500 pages of evidences, just enough to prove you have a real relationship and intentions to get married).

Good luck!!

Thank you so much! I just have one other question, you might know how to answer it :)

For the I-134, Affidavit of Support form, I am currently in between jobs and will be starting another soon, as I am a part-time student as well. My mother is helping me financially while I'm between jobs, so do I need to wait until the job is official before I fill the form out? Does my mother need to fill one out as well since she is a sort-of co-sponsor? Also, do I need to attach bank statements or some sort of proof of the job and the money in my savings account? Thank you again!

All of your financial information gets submitted at the interview stage, which is much later in the process.

Oh, alright! Thank you so much. So do I still need to send in the I-134 form with the I-129F petition, or will I just have to submit the I-134 at the interview stage?

No, you don't send the I-134 with the original I-129F packet. Only for the interview.

9/8/14 - I129F petition sent to the USCIS lockbox via USPS
9/11/14 - Petition received @ USCIS lockbox
9/11/14 - NOA1 Email and text message received
9/15/14 - NOA1 Official notice date
9/18/14 - NOA1 hard copy received
12/9/14 - "Updated" likely because of website repairs, like many of us received
4/20/15 - NOA2 text and email (221 days)

4/29/15 - Sent to the NVC (9 days)

5/8/15 - Arrived at the NVC (9 days)

5/13/15 - Left the NVC (5 days)

5/15/15 - Electronic version arrived at the embassy (2 days)

5/20/15 - Paper copy arrived at the embassy (7 days)

6/4/15 - Status changed to AP (which meant that we could schedule the interview)

6/16/15 - Medical

6/17/15 - K1 APPROVED!!!!

6/30/15 - Passport and sealed envelope delivered via courier

Hi!!

You don't send the Affidavit of Support along with the I-129F to USCIS! It will be shown only at the Interview Stage and later on (Another one) for the Adjustment of Status..So no need to worry about it now! On the link I sent you the info in regards to the I-134 is under the ''What to send to your fiancé (e) ONCE the I-129F is approved''.

But to answer your question about it since you will have to do it later on anyways: You will only need a co-sponsor if you don't make 125% of the Poverty Guidelines. Please check the requirements here: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf When you file this form for your beneficiary you need to add your current occupation, so does your co-sponsor and you will basically need to provide (Sponsor - if applicable - and co-sponsor - MUST) pay stubs (Not sure how many they ask but I would take at least 3), employment letter, previous W-2 (They recommend the last 3 ones), tax returns (Last 2 years I would say). Please check the different between employed and self-employed (It might be a little different). You don't need the bank statement to show your savings IF you can provide them the other documents I have mentioned and of course if it's above the minimum income requirement (Please be aware again that it might be necessary for self-employed).

You REALLY need to Read the Guides and Follow the Example Forms (links at the top of this page) because based on your statement, you don't have a clue what to send and when. The Guides will tell you all.

It's not that I don't have a clue. I have read most all of them. I just wanted to double check and make sure on some things, as this is a complicated process. I want to make sure I've done everything correctly. That's why I said it might sound like a dumb question. Because I have indeed read the guides, but I just needed to double check before sending the petition in.

I'm with you. I'm pretty new to this myself and I have read more of this site (including the guides) than...well certainly more than I've read novels over the past few months and I read at least two of those per month. Sometimes, in a confusing stressful process, if things aren't spelled out exactly along the lines of how your own mind works, you still have questions. That, to me, is why this is a forum and not a website. So that you can ask questions or get something cleared up or just make sure you're not nuts.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

Sri to be so blunt but if you have read the 129f instructions it clearly states what additional documents are required....all that you list as possibly be alternative.

So always read the form instructions and Follow the Guides here. You can't go wrong. This is not that complicated.
