They are flying it seems. Got my packet 3 today after the case status only having changed to 'ready' on Monday!

I had my Embassy interview today. I was still nervous and anxious, despite checking, double checking and triple checking that I had everything prepared and ready. What if they found a reason to refuse the visa?

I need not have worried...

APPROVED!

So happy and relieved! My interviewer said I should have the visa in approx. 2 weeks. I told her my flight was booked for 3 weeks from today so fingers crossed!

Yesssss Yuna!! So excited it's almost over!!! James has his interview the day after tomorrow (Friday) and you guys have your's next week. Both grooms will be here in plenty of time for the weddings.

So I had my interview today. An experience to be remembered. I would probably consider this a post (If I was reading it) of someone who isn't on the ball. When reading says "That's not me, I am ready" how wrong I was.

As I left the house heading to the train station, I had a nagging feeling I was forgetting something. I soon realised as I stood on the platform that it was my passport I had forgotten . So train now missed, as I raced back home, retrieved my passport and rebooked a new train ticket (another £60). Now I'm off to London, but I'm late.... No fear my charm will save my ###. I get to the embassy, a wet mess after running through our finest summer rains, 20 mins late. They allow me entry, but I am told in no uncertain terms by the security guy "Doubt they'll see ya mate, your late!" like I didn't know Just in case I missed it the first time, the nice lady on reception told me the same rebuke on my punctuality. But they let me in, yay!

So now I am in a room, about half full of people awaiting the visa judgement. Feeling somewhat more abashed by the collective "Tsk" as I snuck in the door. Then came the wait, the number trolled by on a large screen at the front of the auditorium (big place). Had to wait about 2 hours before I called 'bingo'. Then it was off to meet the (Dont want to call her nasty) abrupt lady on desk one. Gave her the stuff that I had prepared before being called, but she threw me a curve with things that I had not got out of the folder, ready. Original birth certificate copy, police report, and some other stuff that I can't recall, cause I was somewhat flustered. After feeding the abrupt lady behind the screen lots of paper, it was back to my chair to continue with my novel (reading, not writing). After sitting there for another hour and a half, feeling a little scared that I hadn't fed 'Miss Abrupt' her paper fix quick enough, I got to call bingo again. This however was a different window (It tells you on a big screen at the front your window). So off I trot to window 14 this time, to meet 'Miss nice lady'. Here she made me swear a oath I was telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but. We had a little chat, asked how we met, when we met in body and soul, her job and our wedding. As you may have picked up, I can talk some, so mid way through telling her about the wedding 'Miss nice lady' cut me off, said our visa was approved. After which she returned most of my paperwork, and I skipped out the door.

Was that the short East Asian woman (Philipino or far Eastern)? I too went to desk one for the document check (on Monday) and felt that the woman who dealt with me was rude and abrupt. I have a hearing impairment (I wear two hearing aids) and had to point out that she needed to look at me when speaking as I was having trouble understanding her. She still mumbled and came across as very unfriendly. I thought it was just me, but when I went and sat down to wait for the call for the interview near to window one, I heard her deal with other applicants in much the same unfriendly and abrupt manner. She needs to go on a PR course...

In contrast, when I was called back for the 'interview' (I forget which exact desk number, it was twenty something) , the lady I saw there was absolutely charming and lovely. Made such a difference to be dealt with by someone friendly, charming and being given a lovely warm smile when she said "I am approving your visa!"

Ok, so I'm a bit lost at this part - once you have your case number and book for a medical appointment... do you fill out the DS-160 right away and pay that fee too? Or wait until after your medical exam is completed?

For us, we chose to wait until we knew the embassy had our case before starting that process. But yes, you can do any of the three things - medical, ds-160, readiness form as long as you know the date of your intended medical.

Thanks, Yuna! Yes, we are definitely waiting until we know that the embassy has our case. But how are you considered "ready" if you haven't had your medical yet? lol
