Hello all!

We are now considering a tourist visa for my boyfriend who is a resident of Spain.

My boyfriend, lets call him "L", would like to spend a couple of months here visiting and meeting my family, some of which he already knows. For the past two years (almost), I have been the one traveling over there and I would love for him to meet my family.

Here are the details:

He has lived in Spain since he was 7 years old and has never left.

His citizenship in Spain is processing, he applied almost a year ago, but as you know things in Spain can be a "little" slow.

He is a student but will be taking the spring semester off due to losing his scholarship and not having enough funds to pay for second semester.

He will be back in school in August, but for now (school semester) is still going on.

He has no financial ties, nor does his family. He still lives with his mother and sisters.

I have been thinking to get my cousin (who is his very good friend also and makes a ton of bank ;)) to write some sort of letter saying that he will be visiting with him and they will sight-see and he will be supporting this trip for him.

What are our chances here? I know he shouldn't mention anything about a GF from what VJ advises, that shows ties to the U.S.

P.S. he has no intent in staying... We simply want to spend the summer at my "HOME" and then later on apply for the K-1.

Any advice is greatly appreciated:)

He can definitely try applying for B2 visa, but he has to qualify based on his merits. Based on your info, seems it will be a long shot. However, it is not impossible. The letter from your cousin may or may not help.

The only thing that might help is the fact that he is a student and will be resuming school after the proposed trip.

good luck

Although his Spanish citizenship is processing, what is his nationality now?

What nationality does he intend on applying for the tourist visa under?

good luck

With a Spanish passport he can use the VWP, how long will it be?

Until he becomes a citizenship? Theres no timeline, he applied a year ago, and not a single notification thus far. Could be another year or even two.

Might as well have a go.
