Hi! My husband has gotten his green card and we recently had a baby. Formula is really expensive for us and I was wondering, are we allowed to apply for wic or Medicaid for our daughter and insurance for myself ? Would this cause issues down the road for him ? Thank you for your help.

You and your baby are US citizens and are entitled to all available public assistance. You can use WIC and Medicaid for the two of you.

Your LPR husband must go through Obamacare to get help. He may qualify for subsidized insurance with an insurance company. He may also qualify for Medicaid through Obamacare. He can not apply directly to Medicaid because LPRs are not allowed to use it for the first 5 years. Obamacare is an exception that allows poor LPRs to access Medicaid without violating the 5 years prohibition.
