N-400 and served for debt collection

so i knew someone that was served for debt collection, and she is getting ready to apply for citizenship, do u need to let them know about it or was the case included on the form checklist?

she is trying to pay her debt installment and they already settle the payment plan.

no, debt has no bearing, as long as you have paid your taxes, you are good to go

As the other posters have said, there's no need, and indeed no place, to list civil debts on the N400 application. The only debt to the needs to be listed is nonpayment of taxes. However, if the interviewer asks about outstanding debts, the applicant needs to answer truthfully. It's been a while, but there was one interview experience posted on VisaJourney, where the interviewer asked the applicant about his or her debt on a certain credit card. It was obvious to the applicant that the interviewer had access to his or her credit report.

Again, this should have no bearing on the decision, but you always have to be honest.
