Got the approval letter today! Case status not updated on website. Letter came from the local office in Miami and it says I should receive the card within 60 days.

Well, I sent old bills, old bank statement and all our taxes since we get married.. I thought they will require more evidence, but it was okay... Just send em basic things.. Plus a lawyer is no needed... I filled everything by myself.. PS we don't have current bank account cuz we closed it.

Did you send pictures? I sent pictures in different locations with different people. Like on Christmas or birthdays. Also send affidavits from friends and family. And maybe cards you guys have gave each other. Good luck. I filed in June so I can in,y imagine how impatient you are.

Like I said I haven't sent 2014 taxes cause I didn't have that at the time so that probably the only new thing I can present. Plus my wife renewed her ID since then and we singed a new apartment lease so maybe they want to see the continuation of the relationship with renewed documents. I singed up for life insurance recently with her as the beneficiary but that doesn't go back 2 years it's just a month or so.

Send everything that you have just listed (new bank statements, tax return, IDs, your lease, definitely life insurance), throw in a couple of new pics and you should be fine! It sounds like they just really want to see your 2014 tax return. I'm sure you'll get your approval within a week or two after they receive your packet. Good luck!

Hi there,

When you have health insurance, you have to prove you are both on that card/or on insurance paper. Further you can sent letters sent to you with your name and letters with both your names. Same is for bank letters, your and her name has to be on there, shared account. Let 2 or 3 friends/family write a letter about you (that your a nice person and love each other a lot etc...). If one of you have a pension for later both of you have to put each other as a beneficiary on there. If there are stocks involved also put each other on there as beneficiary. 2014 tax.

The best documentation you can provide is "money linked to your marriage" i.e. Property you own together (Send property deed showing both names), vehicles you own together (Send vehicle title that shows both names) same for Health insurance, Life insurance, Taxes filed etc. etc. All these things hold stronger as evidence than postcards and photographs. Anyone can take pictures but only married people who are in it for the long term would have their spouses names on property etc.

Luckily for me we got pregnant and bought a $500k home together before filing for conditions removal. And since the birth of my daughter I have a $500k life insurance policy with my spouse as 100% beneficiary. That will be the first thing I send if I get an RFE.

Well you need to think outside the normal list of stuff than since you're situation is unique.

Again look for evidence of money invested into the relationship. Have you traveled overseas spending thousands of dollars on flights together, gone on a cruise spending thousands of dollars vacationing? Anything financially linked/related.

Edit: just a personal note. Why doesn't your wife have her licence or a car? I could never leave my wife at home without a car. What if something happened to her, her family, our daughter or to me she wouldn't be able to get anywhere in an emergency situation. Knowing how to drive a car is a good skill to learn especially for emergency situations.
