We understand that we need to take the full responsibility for failing to notice the mail addressing the appointment time, but we hope that we can get some suggestions here in order to know what our next step should be. We have been in panic since we realized we missed this important appointment.

We have a few questions:

(1) The biometric appointment date was October 20th, but it is already December 26th today! Will our case be abandoned?

(2) We also called the USCIS today, and the representative gave us the official answer: mailing the original copy to reschedule an appointment ASAP. However, we also found people online saying that it is better to walk in and ask for an reschedule. Is there any walk-in service existing?

(3)If there is any walk-in service, can I go to the offices in other states (ex. NYC) for help? p.s.The ASC I was assigned for the biometric check is in East Hartford, CT.

You can try and walk-in to the Application Support Center, and see if they will take you on a walk-in basis. We and others have done it before the scheduled biometric appointment with little or no hassle. All they can do is say no.

Thank you very much for the reply! We sent the Request of the reschedule as the USCIS suggested, but we were so worried, so we went to the AOS at Hartford to try the walk-in on December 31st 2014. People there were very nice, and they let us do the fingerprint on the same day! We are still waiting for the further action.

are you talking with an ISO at USCIS call center via telephone? suggest you attempt that on Monday. It's not a trivial thing, to get an ISO.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
