Hello Forum,

I'm looking for examples where the NVC gave checklist in error. To be exact - I have filed and have a duplicate copy of my AOS form - I just received an email yesterday confirming a checklist stating that part 4 item 12 needs to be marked. Which I have actually done (as confirmed by my duplicate copy). I will call in the next 45 minutes to figure out how this can be corrected, but does anyone have any experience with this type of situation and what was the outcome?? Any information is greatly appreciated as I'm about to call and figure this all out.

Thanks for your replies!

The reps won't review .. and I dunno if they will help you to connect you to a supervisor. You can explain the above and request for sup review... hope they will check your case within few days

Thanks. I'm doing both at the moment so I have a supervisor review and I'm re-sending the documents tomorrow so they can be received in time and hopefully sent directly to the supervisor who is reviewing my case.

I am trying desperately to cover all basis but still heartbreaking to know the error isn't on my part but theirs.

You can ask for a supervisor review or just mail the I-864 again. Most times it's easier to do the latter.

That's what makes it so strange and why I was looking for others where the error was something like: You didn't check mark this box - when I clearly have checked it.

I get that calculation errors occur - but I thought ours was so easy because it literally is 0 (all of our money is set in assets) and now I get this back stating that a box isn't checked when I have the duplicate paperwork that says I checked it.

I am sending our AOS again just incase the supervisor decides to state that it isn't checked and I'm hoping that when they receive the new AOS they'll push it through - one can only dream. Then again one can dream that they will fess up to their mistakes and get our paperwork through to the embassy.

They often make errors. Most of the time it's the $$ of the household income.

You are using assets?

NVC Rep told me today that if we will use assets we will get checklist anyway because NVC is checking annual incomes. Consulate will decide if they will accept assets.....

Got that checklist the first e-mail. The second e-mail stated that I did NOT check mark the box on Part 4 item 12 - which I have paperwork proof that I did (I mde a copy of the AOS I sent to NVC). This is what I'm contesting with the supervisor while submitting my documents again. So stressful!!

Sorry I explained that wrong. I got an e-mail that looks like a checklist but is basically a warning the NVC provides all petitions who are only relying off of assets. The NVC cannot make the call on if the assets are acceptable, only the counsulate official is - we will have to bring our paperwork that show the money trails when we actually get to the interview (whenever that may be).

Here's an example of the asset e-mail everyone who works off of assets will get when they are reviewing your case:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
The NVC has received the information you have submitted in reference to
the Affidavit of Support. Please be advised that the Affidavit of Support
information you have provided does not appear to meet the minimum
income requirement according to the current poverty guidelines to sponsor
the intending immigrant(s) for this petition. The consular officer will make
a decision regarding this requirement at the time of your interview. In
order to avoid delays, you may wish to submit an additional Affidavit of
Support (Form I-864) for a/another Joint Sponsor to the National Visa
Center to assist in sponsoring the intending immigrants. To view the
current poverty guidelines, visit
If you decide to use a Joint Sponsor to assist in sponsoring the intending
immigrants, please note that you the sponsor may not use Form I-864EZ
and will also need to submit Form I-864.

Thanks mofatsd! your sharing is very helpful! I have the same problem, we use bank savings as assets, so that means that's not a checklist, we don't have to do anything right now, but just bring all the documents and leave VO of interview to decide, is that right? Thank you again!

That's correct - just make sure you are above the poverty line for your household size and yes not a checklist :) you have to just show the officer that they can be pulled into cash within 1 year and not show financial strain on the family.

Hi mofatsd, the same quetion hit us now, we got NVC checklist asking for the proof of current employment, proof of usa citizenship , and proof of ownership of bank savings....which were sent to them on october 10!

My husband called NVC, the operator said she would handle our case to a supervisor review, and it takes about 42 days for supervisor to review!

so i guess we should resubmit the documents at the same time too~~

have you had any progress?

Good luck!
