Hello everyone!!

My sister-in-law arrived in the US on a I-130 visa on Oct 26th.

So far no Green Card.

Any idea how long it should take before she gets the letter from USCIS so she can pay the fee?

Its been almost 2 months now an that seems like too long.

She won't get her GC until she pays the ELIS fee of $165 to USCIS. She doesn't need to wait for a letter for that since she can just create an account on here: http://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-immigrant-fee

All she needs to do is fill out the form with her biographic data and her A-number and the case number she was assigned by NVC (Department of State number). Those numbers can also be found on her printed visa foil in her passport.

She should just follow the guidelines on the website I posted above and she should get her GC in the next 1-3 months.

Should have paid the $165 fee before she left the Phils, green card won't arrive until that fee is paid.

When Mom-in-law arrived, we got a letter from USCIS about 30 days after arrival with instructions on paying the fee.

I was expecting the same this time arouns as well.

So far its not arrived.

Stop waiting for a letter and go paid the fee.... "check is in the mail" ;)

If the Department of State gave you an immigrant visa, you must pay the $165 USCIS Immigrant Fee online using USCIS ELIS. While you may pay this fee after immigrating to the United States, we recommend that you do so after you receive your immigrant visa packet from a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad (including Canada and Mexico) andbefore you depart for the United States. You will not receive a permanent resident card (Green Card) until you pay this fee.

Don't rely on that. Plus, you really don't need the letter to pay the fee anyway.
