Initial AOS interview -- successful!

Just a short review:

We'd arrived 45 minutes early and parked at the Portsmouth Square Parking Garage, which is two blocks away from the USCIS office (it has decent rates -- $5 for two hours).

The interview itself took approximately half an hour, most of which was spent chatting about our relationship (how we met, when we met, who met who first, where did we meet, how was the wedding, where was the wedding, honeymoon, etc.). Touched briefly on employment.

Our interviewer was a nice guy with an offbeat sense of humour. He hardly looked at our documents (though he took them nevertheless); instead, he focused on listening to our story. He was glad to see that we have strong ties to our families. Before he stamped my AOS application with "APPROVED!", he gave my husband one last chance to get rid of me.

"She's a keeper" was his reply.

Congratulations on being approved for your green card (though it's not actually green)!!!! Now all you have to do is wait for your card in the mail (which I am guessing should take about a week or so). And yes, you're a keeper here in the VJ community too!

As for the passport stamp, you might not necessarily need it (though they stamped mine anyways), as it says "Temporary I-551" on it. So if you get your green card, that is your "Permanent I-551" (for the time being, until it expires) already. Just show that green card with your passport and you'll be ok travelling. By the way, is your green card in your old/maiden name, since you filed your paperwork and have everything else in that name?

Lol...likewise, my interview was just like yours, with similar questions (though they didn't ask about the family thing, and the lawyer came to the interview with us). I was approved at the interview and got my green card in the mail (USPS) about a week later.
