Hello to everyone, My fiance and I have been in an official relationship for 5 months... I knew him before that because we attended the same church when I was an aupair in the USA. We dated for some time and then we decided to start a serious relationship. We spent a lot of time together before I had to come back to Colombia because my program was over. He came to Colombia to visit me for my birthday and he brought me my engagement ring. We talk everyday and night by face time and i message because we both have iphones... Now I have some questions and I would like please to get some answers:

1. Do we have a short time in a relationship to start the K1 proccess?

2. We don't normally use skype, or phone cards, or email because we easily can talk by face time. We don't know how to get the register of this phones since we normally use wifi...How can we prove that we are a lot in touch then?

3. My fiance has been talking to a lawyer, but I am not sure about that because I know lawyers can charge a lot money...and I don't think we need one because I consider we can start this process in our own, but we are scared also that we might do something wrong because we don't know a lot about this. This lawyer asked him for pictures, but he hasn't asked anything about me, like my passport pictures,or my biographic form, or my letter statement. I told my love we need to add these documents also when he starts the process, I know this because I have been reading a lot about it, but he believes more what the lawyer says because he has a lot experience about immigration processes. So I would like you to please help me so my love can see this post and believe what I have told him already.

Anyone who can help us would be great...thanks.....

As long as you have physically met at some point in the past two years, relationship duration shouldn't be an issue.

Can you screen shot your facetime history? showing calls made to each other and the duration? If so, do this for different dates throughout your relationship and submit them. Other evidence can include the evidence that he purchased a plane ticket to visit you, entry/exit stamps on his passport, photos of you together, copies of any letters or cards you two have sent one and other etc etc

If you have any red flags then perhaps a lawyer is required, but if it's a fairly simple case then there is more than enough guidance on VJ to help you with the process!

If you have any further questions I would recommend starting your own thread as you will get more responses.

Lastly, :guides: they are your friend!

Good luck! :)

Thanks.... That's what I have been doing to collect evidence...I have been screen shot emails, messages on facebook but I wasn't sure about doing that also with the face time calls and imessages... About the pictures we have a lot...because I lived for some time in his town and we attended the same church in USA... So we met in person and had the opportunity to spend some months together as a couple.

He still wants to use a lawyer to help us..no because we have any problem just because we are scared of doing something wrong during the process. Being away has been really hard since we already know what is being close and living together. Plus, I applied for my tourist visa to go and visit him and my host family for Christmas but it got denied. We got really sad because we were hoping we were gonna see each other soon...That's one of the reasons my love wants to use a lawyer.. :/....

Thanks very much for answering my questions...It is not easy going through this process and it is really nice having people to count... God bless you...

I know this is difficult, but I will keep trying. It will work because, this distance is nothing compared to our love.

10/2013 we met at church in USA, through some common friends. We became friends.

06/07/2014 we went to our first date. :dancing: Why did we take so long to go out? :ranting:

06/22/2014 I said YES.. I want to be your girlfriend... :luv:

07/16/2014 I had to come back to Colombia because my program was over

10/10/2014 My love met me in Colombia to spend my birthday weekend with me. We got engaged (L)

02/17/2015 - 03/09/2015 He came back to Colombia to visit me and met my family. :star:

05/12/2015 We couldn't stand the distance, so he decided to move here with me.

05/28/2015 We got married at the notary. 06/06/2015 We got married at church :D

12/03/2016  Moved back to the USA. 🥰

08/2020 Became a Citizen. 🇱🇷

08/2020 Applied to bring my mom. ❤️

02/28/2022 went to pick my mom to the airport in Florida 🤩

You are filing for K1 fiancé visa?

if so, no need to send the entire copy of I129f package, the US embassy (manila) has it.. I had an interview earlier and I saw the entire package (I129f) that my fiancé sent to USCIS.

Just send your Affidavit of support (signed and dated), supporting documents like Form 1040 and W2 (2013 only) and certificate of employment, the letter of intent (signed and dated) and other stuff that can be use as a proof of ongoing relationship.

which affidavit of support form do I send my fiancée in manila for her interview ? the I-134 or I-864 FORM ?????

Yes we received our NOA2 four days after our NOA1. We were incredibly lucky and are soooo grateful!

4 days actually.

This is correct.

Unfortunately I cannot answer that, but I'm happy to share what we included in our petition if it will help other people. We were very lucky, and of course we massively sympathise with those waiting 5+ months for their NOA2! We wish the process was more efficient for EVERYONE! Apparently CSC are not so great at getting approved petitions sent to NVC so our waiting could be yet to come of course...

Thanks.... That's what I have been doing to collect evidence...I have been screen shot emails, messages on facebook but I wasn't sure about doing that also with the face time calls and imessages... We included 12 photos I believe, a couple from each time we have seen each other and that was sufficient. Make sure you write on the back when, where it was taken and everyone that is in the photo. It's good to include photos demonstrating various activities together, as well as with each others family members, as this will strengthen your application (as opposed to just "selfies" that show no location etc!).

Hiring a lawyer is a personal choice. We did not feel that we needed one and many many couples on VJ have been successful using the advice on this website alone, which is extremely comprehensive. As I've said before, I personally don't see the need for one, but you must do what you feel is best! Using a lawyer will not necessarily speed up the process however, and in many cases on VJ, it has actually taken longer as sometimes they can be more hindrance than help!

It's quite common for a tourist visa to be denied during the K1 process so try not to be disheartened. Can they visit you instead? I'm sorry to hear it was denied :(

Whatever you decide I wish you the very best of luck! :)
