Hello everyone,

Been a while. Quick question, I tried looking and wasn't able to find a concrete answer but generally how long does it take for the embassy to return the passport? Me and my fiance decided that we're simply done with the wait and are going to Dubai. I was born there and have my immediate family there and she has family there as well so it will be a breeze plus i'll be able to work from there (IT FTW). So, I requested her passport back on Friday. It's Wednesday and I haven't heard a peep from the embassy. We know all the negatives surrounding requesting the passport back and thought about this long and heavy but it is something we are moving forward with. So, If anyone has done so and might be able to provide me with a timeline, I'd appreciate it. All the best to all in AP and congratulations to all the ones I missed congratulating. I've been MIA lately. Work is something else these days. Plus let's not forget the MAUKA MAUKA back and forth that went on during the cricket world cup.

On a lighter note I also liken MAUKA MAUKA to AP. It fits! ;) Cheers to all! Stay strong!

Hi we have requested passport back too for Umrah after waiting in AP for 30 months. Its not a bad thing we have the right to continue a normal life, just stay in touch with the embassy via email. AP is crazy. U wont believe yesterday I managed to go inside embassy with a relative it was their interview, I asked about my case and all they said was dont worry its in normal processing, then joked with the urdu officier like really thats your version of normal???? I am about to get a lawyer against this. and He laughed and said please dont worry and waste your time just be patient.

The Hi everyone!! I had my interview on 30th of March 2015 after normal procedures when I got to submit my passport and medical at window 5 the Pakistani guy says while looking into my file that where is your Urdu nikkah Nama(original marriage certificate) n I said it's been sent to nvc by lawyer n he says we don't have it here so I said what!!! He said you can't trust lawyers these days!! Ok then he said wait for interview and after two tensed hours I was called for interview and every thing went ok with questions and at the end CO asked about nikkah Nama n I said the same thing.. I said I can bring tomorrow another original at home but he said no you should contact NVC to send it here to the embassy!! I persist but he said even if you do that it makes no difference in timeline as my case is being put on AP!! too n it will take several weeks to complete that.. was given 221g white slip with requiring nikkah Nama and also explaining AP!! My interview was for spouse visa and we even have our baby two n half months old who has already got the US passport which I received on the same day at a different window.. My wife is with me in Pakistan since we got married in jan 2014.. Any help.. I am worried that even if I send another original nikkah Nama they have put me on AP and time line is unknown even CO says it is minimum one month..

All you can do is send them the Nikkah Nama by courier and wait on your AP to finish. The AP could last a short time or it could take many months. It is a good thing that your wife and baby are with you in Pakistan. You can wait it out together. Keep checking your email for news from the embassy and the updates on the ceac website.

Thanks for your reply but my regret is that if I would have the nikkah Nama with me then, would I still be put on AP? and CO says one month but 221 slip suggests somewhat longer?

The ceac wont tell you that, you can call NVC and they will tell you weather the embassy received your documents or not.

I called yesterday to NVC to confirm if embassy got documents I sent them and they confirmed it was in their system.
