Have Greencard and now received interview notice for Home country

Hi All ,

My wife now has her green card and has had it since August after us getting married here in states while she was on tourist visa here. Her mom is a Us citizen and started the process for my wife to get a green card 8 years ago. My wife received a email few days ago from US immigration that she is scheduled for a interview in Guatemala in late December.

What course of action would you take ?

ignore ?

tell them she is no longer interested ?

tell them she has a green card after marrying me and therefore is no longer needed ?

I am sure there are situations like this that have happened .. we just didn't expect the date to come so soon we expected another year or 2 and is why we decided to get married here. Us marrying here was never palnned and in fact she still has unfinished business with her personal belongings and property in Guatemala and is why we are going back in December. Will we have problems with this date scheduled and our re-entry back into the US in mid January if we ignore it ?

Thanks

Jack

Call USCIS because there's definitely an update in address and status in her case. You can explain the situation to them and ask for advice.

Is her current green card conditional? Maybe they can somehow lift the conditions from her current one (from marrying you) relating to her mom's petition?

Did you mention the other petition when you adjusted her status? Looks like it was never canceled.

I would call, or if you have a USCIS office nearby, do an infopass and bring the letter as well as the greencard so they can make sure to cancel the family petition.
