in counties that doesnt accept dual citizenship, do kids lose theirs if they became citizens of another country?

My friend JimmyHou and I have a question about a situation where kids are involved. Say for example parents who are from pakistan or india or china... if the parents became citizens of the US the children become citizens as well automatically. Do the children lose their original citizenship at that moment? I know in China children who are in that situation have until the age 18 to decide whether to keep Chinese citizenship or to officially renounce it.

A friend with kids born in the US while he was here on a work visa said the kids have to choose when they are 18(i think). They are now back in Malaysia.

I guess that answers it... most countries are reasonable enough to understand that some things happen automatically.

I suppose it's the same as an Indian mother giving birth to a child in Canada... it would be pretty unfair for India to pull the child's citizenship because he/she automatically became a citizen at birth... but then again, a lot of nationality issues in the US and abroad aren't exactly fair.

Anyway... interesting feedback.
