My wife just received notice today for Oath Ceremony on November 19th. However, she is coming with me to Chicago for conference and we are coming back on the 19th after the ceremony. Is it OK to re-schedule? Usually if you do, what is the delay? Is it a good reason to re-schedule?

Depending on your local office the delay can be anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

You need to return the letter as soon as possible with an explanation of why you need to reschedule.

There's always the risk that they may not process it in time, so if there's any way you can have your wife fly home a day early it's probably worth it.

People have posted both positive and negative experiences about rescheduling. It usually isn't a problem, but it's something you should think about.

My daughter rescheduled hers this past summer because they had scheduled it at a time when she had specifically said she couldn't come because we (her parents) were out of town and we were her main ride and it was important for us to be there too. No big deal - they rescheduled about 5 weeks later, but as mentioned it's probably different for each office.

I would rebook the flight to a day earlier for her and get the oath done.

No real reason to - the OP is just delaying the oath, his wife has already been approved and it doesn't change that decision.
