My wife does not have a Green Card or even Residency, but she has a Social Security Card. Can she get a New York State ID?

Hi there, I do not know about laws in NY City but here in WA State I was able to get a drivers license with my B1/B2 Visa, Mexico Drivers license and my social security number as an IDs. I did not have a green card or apply for one when I got my Drivers Licence. My social security number is the class one that is not available for work, I just got a number because of my dad SS disability benefits when I was a child and He (my dad) was a Resident. Ohhh and my husband is even able to claim taxes for me!!!! Legally!!!!

Hope this help. :goofy:

How does she have an SSN?

People who come here with a K-1 visa once they arrive to the country can ask for SSN before the I-94 expires :)

And for the OP I really don't know.. I haven't read about it before here

Hey I just got my new york state id. You need 6 points to get your state id. It's all on the dmv website. Your passport and I 94 are worth 3 points. Your ssn is worth 2 points. A bank statement is worth 1 point. That's all I took and we are not even married yet.
