Packet 3 Requirements

I am trying to gather all the required documents for my Packet 3 since my case is IN TRANSIT from the NVC and I have a question. Do the last three years of the petitioner’s federal income tax returns, supporting W-2 form(s), and IRS-issued proof of payment have to be originals or copies? I am a little hesitant to send the originals since I only have one copy of them but will send them if they are required.

I seen many posts where VJers are ordering IRS transcripts. It has all ur tax info and payments on it. irs.gov

U receive them within 7days.

You can actually just print out the transcripts yourself. No need to wait for the IRS to mail them to you > http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

I know how to get the transcripts but do the other things (tax returns and paystubs) need to be copies or originals?

If you provide an IRS transcript, then you don't need a copy of the tax return. It is either a copy of the complete tax return with all forms, schedules, W-2s and/or 1099s, or an IRS transcript. As I said above, copies. Copies of tax returns or transcripts and copies for proof of income such as pay stubs. The I-134 is what needs to be original.

This is what I would do:

- Original - send IRS tax transcripts for the past three years.

- Copy - your recent paystub and W2

Though tax transcript is mother of all but your recent paystub will prove you are still workings. My lessons learned with immigration; it's okay to send what they've asked but it wont hurt if you send extra. But have to be careful with extra and relevant.
